Time to review my preseason predictions! I'll start with the NFC.

NFC West
Sucky division will once again send crap to the playoffs (although last year’s crap made it to and almost won the SB).

Division is still sucky. And only sent one team to the playoffs this year.

They won more games this year, including embarassing the Vikings in the dessert. They wont surprise anyone this year though in the playoffs.

Well Hasselbeck stayed relatively healthy, WRs did to. Houshmazadeh should have improved the WR corps...but the Seahawks still sucked. Jim Mora is a bad HC. Why do NFL teams keep hiring HCs that failed elsewhere?

Vernon Davis emerged, Alex Smith may have saved his career, Crabtree could be good and this team is on the rise. QB play did hold them back a bit. Next year, a real threat to make the playoffs.

Got that one wrong. Arizona repeats. SF improves, Rams stink as expected...Seattle didn't improve.

I was wrong, they had TWO bright spots. Williams and Jonathan Stewart. Fox will probably keep his job, but that's still up in the air. Carolina certainly fell back to Earth.

Started great, fell apart late. Problematic to say the least.

Wade Phillips is coaching for his career, I think he may have extended it one more year if he wins a playoff game.

I was wrong. They didn't fall off. Nearly had the 2 seed in the playoffs.

And as it turns out Dallas wins the Division and the Eagles the WC. Giants tanked, Washington looked more abyssmal than I thought they could.

Minnesota Vikings – Weaknesses, QB, WR, Young Oline at two positions, and Safety. Other than that, you have AD, Shianco poised for a big season and a D that will be dominating, improved ST, and a focus on Turnover ratio like never before. This team will surprise a lot of pundits.

Favre turned out to be a strength. WR turned out to be a strength, The Young OLine has had its moments. But this team is about where I thought they would be, 12-4 with a first round bye.

Forte was the biggest factor...when he proved to be a fluke the Bears O went south. and he wasn't enough...they finished the year with Aromapoopoo as their best WR in the last two games...that's sad.

Maybe not as overhyped as I thought, but I did get it right about their best against vanilla. They did improve on last year. and will be tough out in the playoffs. But they don't scare me.

NFC Champs: New Orleans Saints.

Only time will tell how the playoffs will play out.

AFC West

Oakland – Fighting with the Chiefs and Lions for first overall pick in the 2010 draft…again…only they gave that pick away to the Patriots (morons). This is now the worst run organization in the NFL. And it wont get better for the black hole until old uncle Al kicks the bucket.

They actually did better than I thought. But still suck and will continue to do so as long as old uncle Al is running things.

Collins went down alright...just not to injury, just his own sucky play. Chris Johnson lit the NFL on fire with his play, Vince Young looked like a serviceable QB, Titans started bad, finished strong...and if they had the balls to switch to Young earlier may have made the playoffs.

So that puts the Steelers/Saints in the SB. And I think the Saints upset the heavily favored Steelers and take home the title.

Pack over Cards - The Pack might match up well against them and the Cards are banged up. I think the Packers will win handily if the refs allow them to commit PI with few calls. IF the refs call it tighter, and it's a close game I think Arizona will win because they have a better coach, GB has a kicker that is struggling. GB leads the whole way and wins by 10.

Philly over Dallas - Philly finds a way to get it done, big plays, McNabb looks great.

NY Jets over Cincy

NE over Baltimore - I ALMOST went with all 4 road teams. I could easily see Baltimore pulling this one out, like they almost did in Minnesota, but I think NE usually gets favorable officiating at home, therefore the Ravens lack of speed at WR which results in a lot of pushoffs will eventually do them in, and I think it happens here.

I guess coach McCarthy has said that Woodson is just fine. It's true that he would be a huge loss if he couldn't play on Sunday.

I think a lot of the pundits are underestimating the Cardinals and their ability to play at a high level in a game that counts. They didn't put much out there last weekend after they learned that the Vikings had won - but this weekend they'll be firing on all cylinders. When Kurt Warner is hot - he's almost unstoppable.

And on the other side - the only good team that the Packers have beat is the Cowboys. Their other wins have been unremarkable, and they lost to the Buccaneers!

No question they're a better team than they were in the first half of the season, but I don't think they can beat playoff teams at this stage.

Good call Lynn.

I got just 1 of 4 predections right, but I must confess I willed ALL 4 of the winners to wins this last weekend. EVERY team that I wanted to win, won !

JETS - I just liked the Jets more than I liked Cincy.

COWBOYS - I did NOT want Philly to win, because that might mean the Vikes would get the Packers right away.

RAVENS - I did NOT want my preseason prediction of Patriots over Vikings in the SB to REALLY happen. But I do NOT want the Vikes playing the Ravens in the SB, Flacco can really turn it on, Rice is awesme, and their kicker might not miss the next time.

CARDS - When it really got down to it, I didn't know if my heart could take a GB/MIN rematch in the playoffs. I think the Vikes COULD beat Arizona in the Championship.

That was exactly how I felt too. I really, really wanted the Cowboys to win because I didn't want to take the chance of a third game against the Packers - although now that everything has played out I'm having one of those "be careful what you wish for moments."

I don't care if I once again get 1 of 4 right, I'm hoping to WILL the 4 teams I want to win to victory, just like last week !

New Orleans over Arizona
Indy over Baltimore
Minnesota over Dallas
NY Jets over SD

I'm ONLY picking the Jets if the other 3 home teams all have won - if ANY visiting team wins, then I'll go with the Chargers. Nobody will be giving the Jets much of a shot. The Jets can run the ball well (T Jones does well in playoff games) and keep the game close. This season, Rivers has started slow in a lot of games and came on at the end. IF he does that this time, it mght be too tough if the Jets get a 4th quarter pick.

THOSE are my picks, if I were trying to will teams like last week, I would want Arizona, Baltimore, Minnesota, NY Jets.

Over the past four years, teams with a bye in week one are 7-9 in week two.

IMO, the team least likely to win on the road is Arizona. Of the last six teams to score 50 in the playoffs, only one of them has won the next week. New Orleans 37, Arizona 27

In order to win on the road, you need defense. If the Jets weren't playing the Chargers, I would pick them. I just think it is too far to travel and get yourself up for another big win. If Sanchez throws less than 20 times the Jets will win. San Diego 26, New York 17

Dallas has a shot at beating Minnesota, but I like the Vikes at home. They are a different team inside the dome, and I think the matchups are favorable. Minnesota 27, Dallas 24

Personally, I just don't think Baltimore is that good. I liked the choice of Indianapolis sitting guys with two weeks to play. Indianapolis 31, Baltimore 17

Don't know, just saw the stat. The guy on the radio was making the point that having a bye isn't really a big advantage.

Maybe the numbers don't reflect it but I would guess fighting for the bye down to the wire - the bye helps. Wrapping the bye up early and having nothing to play for for weeks - does not.

You are missing the point of that stat.

Teams with a 1st round PLAYOFF BYE are struggling lately
