Attack does not equal blitz

You attack by tightening up the coverage, forcing the zones, and occasionally blitzing.

What Dallas did on defense to New Orleans is slightly different than what we can do.  We need to get a little more pressure because our back 7 is not as good at coverage

Blitzing won't be real effective either. We are a poor blitzing team and Brees is excellent in reading the blitz and gets rid of the ball very quickly.
I expect mostly a 4 man rush with most everybody else focusing on coverage.

Agreed.  Bend but don't break.  Make New Orleans be patient and make plays on third down.

New Orleans has a fine mix of guys that can beat you deep, and guys that can beat you short.  Having Shockey dinged up is good for Minnesota.  He is one of their main red zone guys along with Colston.

IMO, Jasper Brinkley has a lot of pressure on him today.  I'm not going to lie to you, I like Brinkley, but I am very concerned about his play today.  He is a young kid and often times overplays the run.  If I were the Vikings, I would have him spying Reggie Bush all day long.

I might stay more in nickel and then have Winfield 1 on 1 on Bush

Vikes will WIN today !!!

Yes, I'm switching to the Vikes.

The Vikes will give up their FIRST TD on a first possession to the Saints. This will anger the defense. The defense will then pick up the pace and start getting physical with Brees and the Saints' offense.

I just can't really see this Viking team losing, it's seems like a team of destiny. I think the Vikes will be SUPER today. No knee taken today Brad, BRAD DOESN'T TAKE A KNEE !!!. We all need to start chanting that when the Vikes get the ball back with 30 seconds left, and a 27-27 score.

Longwell kicks a game winner in regulation.

Vikings 30
Saints 27

Food for thought.

Last year in the MNF game, the Saints scored a TD on their first possession.

It was the ONLY offensive TD they got the rest of the GAME!

Bush catches more wing passes than anything.  He isn't much of a screen guy.  Brinkley is going to have to make some plays and stop Pierre Thomas on the run.

Lets hope you are right.  I really don't have any predictions for this one.  I could see it going either way.

All I know is, the Vikings haven't been in the Super Bowl since I was in my teens.  It would be pretty cool to see them get back.

I think Favre is the key to the game.  If he manages the game and plays within the offense, I think the Vikings have a good shot at playing in the Super Bowl.

That's why Chilly brought him in. We're stuck with BC now because of it, Favre owes us. At least, he owes me.

Some of us in here have been saying the Vikings need a quarterback for 10 years.  They finally got one and are now one game from the Super Bowl.  How many times have you heard me say this is a passing league now?

Now we may need another one

McNabb or Vick - who do YOU like Brad?

How about you JC

You got to see them/hear about them in the Philly area all year.

IF the Vikes traded for one of them, who would you choose??

Neither

If I had to pick one it would actually be Vick.  McNabb appears to be fading fast and blames everyone but himself for bad games.

McNabb has the most potential but he needs to dedicate himself in the offseason to getting into shape.  Plus he needs a more fiery coach than Brad

I stand by my pick of thinking the Vikings would blow the Saints out. But you turn the ball over like we did and you can lose to any shitty team.

Reminds me of something a great fisherman (and so-so coach) once said.

"They are who we thought they were, and we let them off the hook".

If those were my only choices, I'd McNabb a thousand times before I took Vick.  He's a great athlete, but has NEVER been a good QB.

I had the score right with the NFC Championship loss to the Falcons in '98, but the wrong team winning. This year, I only missed each teams score by ONE point:

Vikings 30
Saints 27

Correct score being 31-28, since they beat themselves, I just needed to amend it to:

Vikings 30
Vikings 27

Pretty close, I'm still wondering how each team ended up getting an extra point. Did the league end up giving each team a point for the enormous viewership ?

I've got 41-24, Colts.

And it'll be one of those games that "wasn't as close as the final score might indicate."

The only thing more laughable is a pseudo-Viking fan like you trying to pass yourself off as the real thing.

I will say, though. . .you did manage to go five minutes without swearing or foaming at the mouth there.  Good for you!

Now go back to playing with your Brett Favre voodoo doll or something.

Its always hard to follow one of Dan's posts as there is so much thought and insite put into those but I'm going to try anyway.

Next season is wide open once again.  Not sure how the whoe FA things works anymore due to this probably being an uncapped year and the rules change, but with New Orleans having half their roster either restricted free agents or out right free agents it would be tough to see them repeating.  The nice thing for us is that we have the core group of players still under contract and can bank on that.  Will the New Orleans ownership spend big money to keep its team in tact?  I just don't see it.  The guy didn't even want to remain in New Orleans because of the disastor and the fact they weren't (at the time) making any money.  That being said, with all the new rules for free agency coming into effect and the salary cap kaput for next season.....should make for an interesting off season.  The draft has never been so important!
