The under/over I believe is 51. I'm tied with another guy for the playoff pool. It could very well come down to total points. What do you think? Over or under?

I think more SBs have went over, and despite these hard hitting defenses, both teams have good OLs, so they should get plenty of TDs. I have a feeling both teams will get hot with points in one half but not the other half. I think it will go OVER but probably, just barely.

Perhaps I had a fear of the team I want to win winning, or something like that. I think the younger, more energetic team is going to win: SF.

It's going to be interesting the next few years, to see if some of my less crazy theories hold true.

For instance, the Broncos are making some nice moves in FA, maybe enough to win it all. Peyton Manning tends to be great in the regular season, not so great in the post season, but I do think he has a strong will to at least match his brother in terms of SB wins. However, his coach to a knee in the playoffs, and I've come to believe that is a coach that doesn't know how to win. But people CAN learn from mistakes. IF the Broncos win it all, that tells me it's possible the Vikes could have won the SB with Denny Green, if they had enough talent and the right players. If not, I'll continue to believe that some head coaches have it, and some just don't.

I never thought Tony Dungy would win a SB, I always thought he was too soft, but I was proven wrong on that. I wondered if Peyton Manning would ever win a SB, but with a lot of help from officials they were able to beat the Patriots and go on and win the SB. I also thought at one time that Mike McCarthy was too stupid to ever win a SB, but he just sounds stupid but seems to have a good mind for offensive playcalling and keeping his team focussed on winning. Maybe they just caught a break and played weak offenses the year they won the SB, and might never see one again ?

I've come to believe that guys like Moss and Harvin may well just be cancers to a team, and as long as you have them on your team, the officials are likely to be against your team in the playoffs, therefore your team is likely to lose. It'll be interesting how this plays out in Seattle. If Seattle goes on to win the SB with Percy, that will prove either that he wasn't really a cancer, or that players like that can be handled if you have the right HC. IF Seattle goes on to win the SB, then I might want Frazier fired, but it depends how things go the next few years in Minnesota.

100% guarantee an NFC teams win the Super Bowl this year. Seattle, San Francisco, and Atlanta are looking real strong right now.

I agree on those 3 teams, but I also wouldn't count out the Giants, Packers, Bears or Vikings.

The Giants made good move getting Cullen Jenkins, they are well coached, and Eli is clutch in the playoffs. But I really think there's a good chance they miss Bradshaw.

The Packers will get Bishop back, if they keep Jennings they'll be competitive. Kap isn't going to run all over them every time they play the 49ers. A few weeks ago, the Packers sent some people somewhere (I think it was Texas A&M), learn how to defend the option (whatever you call it) with the QB running that killed them in the playoffs. If the Packers get Jennings back, I think they can be competitive with ANY team as long as Rodgers is playing like he has the past 2 years.

The Bears could be vastly improved on offense with the LT from the Saints and the TE from the Giants, and a new OC. It will probably take time, but should they peak at the end of the year, they could be a SB team. While all this happens, I suspect their defense could turn South, but if it plays mediocre they could be a tough out at the end of the year.

The Vikings, contingent on them getting Jennings, a 1st round stud WR, and 2 instant start stud defenders in the draft, Ponder playing better (maybe Cassel taking over), Peterson continue to run as hard as last season.

Matt Cassel is going to have a good preseason, and Ponder will have a poor one, maybe a minor injury keeps him out of a game or two.

Ponder will stay healthy and not miss a game all season. I think he'll have an erratic season where he plays well and delivers the victory against perceived tough opponents, but struggles against teams the Vikes are expected to beat.

Having said that, I do NOT like that the Vikes are starting at Detroit and then at Chicago. I think they'll be expected to win both of those games, and there's a good chance they can lose BOTH of them. They SHOULD be able to pull out the game at Detroit, but it could be trouble, especially if Reggie Bush has a big day.

I think the Vikes have a good chance of pulling upsets against Pittsburgh (in part because they play them early in the season), at Dallas and at Baltimore. Maybe at Green Bay, but Ponder usually performs poorly there, as well as the whole team, unless GJ can pump up the team.

The Vikes could lay an egg at home against Carolina and Philly, maybe Cleveland if the team goes in over-confident.

It's probably going to be a Vikes/Hawks SB.

Will we have to suffer one more heartbreak before we finally win it all? That's the question.

Let's get this party started. I've seen enough to make my predictions (please no major injuries!).

@ Det - W
@ Chi - W
vs Cle - W
'vs' Pitt - L
vs Car - W
at NYG - L
vs GB - W
at Dal - W
vs Was - W
at Sea - W
at GB - L
vs Chi - W
at Bal - W
vs Phi - W
at Cin - W
vs Det - W

Game 1: It's Detroit. Game over. Vikes by 13.

Game 2: If there was one game on this schedule that I'm on the fence with it's this one. But screw it! It's Chicago and they only have Cutler to Marshall. We now have The Eraser and three good CB's. Vikes by three.

Game 3: Home opener against Cleveland. We own them. Vikes by 17.

Game 4: London game. Vikes don't seem to do well in 'non-standard' game day conditions. Pittsburgh has 'Big Ben'. So do the Brits. Steelers by 10.

Game 5: First game after the bye week. Vikes historically excellent in that game. Panthers just don't match up well against us. Vikes by ten.

Game 6: Let down game. Once again a 'prime time' game and we suck at those. Giants by seven but really not that close.

Game 7: If there's one thing that can get you over the 'prime time' problem it's bringing in the cheese for a home game. Bet your house on this one. Vikes by 13 and it will be all the talk for the next week. The Pack didn't do enough to protect Rodgers and the Vikes are currently built to destroy him. Look for Rodger's lazy eye to get knocked straight, then crooked again, and then straight again.

Game 8: Tee off on Romo and he makes mistakes both severely and plentifully. Vikes by seven.

Game 9: This is the second closest game I came to marking as a 'L'. 'Prime time' again - yuck! That being said I just don't see us laying the egg against them that we did last year. On top of that we are at home this time. This will be Frazier's defining moment as a coach and he will contain RGIII with a few surprises a la the Philly game when Winfield had a 'field' day against Vick. Vike's by seven but it's not really that close.

Game 10: Love you Winfield - you're my second favorite Vike of all time but you've gotten old. Percy can go pound sand. Grudge match all the way! This time Musgrave doesn't let off the ground attack. Vikes by four.

Game 11: It's so hard to win there. They get so many horseshit calls. Entitlement Town. Pack by ten.

Game 12: We will see the epic meltdown of Cutler. Their playoff dreams and really their entire franchise dream's of building around Cutler and Marshall will crash all around them. Vikes by 17. Yep - you read that correctly. Don't worry though Chicago - you'll always have 1985.

Game 13: Ravens mortgaged everything to get that Superbowl last year. I don't blame them - I'd do it too. Congrats to the 2012 squad. This year's Ravens wont even closely resemble last year's team. Vikes by seven.

Game 14: I don't know if the 15th of December is too early for Santa Claus to come out and get boo'd and pelted by snowballs but I think Philly is in tough shape this year. Vikes by three.

Game 15: This is the third-most closest pick I had to a 'L'. Either the Bengals will have disintegrated by now or will be fighting for a playoff spot. Either way - they won't have enough talent to withstand a Vikings squad that is starting to realize they have a chance - THIS YEAR. Vikes by four.

Game 16: Last game (regular season) game ever at the Dome. It's Detroit. It's a slaughter. The fact that there will be a home playoff game upcoming will be the only thing keeping us from taking our four seats with us out the door. Vikes by 17.

I should hope that if Romo is making that many severe mistakes...that we would win by more than seven.

Tough to blow out a team when you're on the road.

Fortunately, the Cowboys have no home field advantage since they moved into the new building. They have won exactly one more home game than road game since moving into Cowboys stadium in 2009 (17 wins at home vs 13 on the road). For comparison, the Vikings won nine more home games than road games, and 3 more home games than Dallas despite winning 2 fewer games overall, in that same time frame (20 wins at home vs 11 on the road).

That looks like a pretty tough schedule. I think if the Vikes win 10 or more games, it's going to be a lot of wins in the last 2 minutes of games, where some might say the Vikings 'got lucky'.

I'm comfortable going with 13 with David.

I was one of the few comfortable calling for a playoff push last year as well.

I wont know if I think this team is as good as 2009 until training camp, but I certainly like what I see.. and I love we have no respect from any of the media pundits.
