Why has there not been a post on the Gophers beating #8 ranked Harrison Barnes, I mean UNC. I could not resist this opportunity to make fun of Harrison who went a terrific 0-12 against or for the Gophers. Just maybe he is not a lock to go #1 in the draft and be an NBA all star. Not hating just questioning.

He had a horrible shooting game 3 GAMES INTO HIS COLLEGE career.

Changing how he's ranked/considered as a player due to that would be akin to judging talent based on YouTube highlight packages.

Does horrible even do it justice. I am sure the guy is good enough to go pro and be a decent player. I am really doubting that he will be great. Probably some fringe starter or role player like Kevin Love. I will continue to monitor his progress as I have become quite interested. DL do you think he will be great as in multiple NBA all star games or something below that level?

Horrible absolutely does it justice.

You're getting WAY too hung up on "0-fer" games. They happen. They happen to really, really good players.

Tim Hardaway was a 5 time All-Star and a first team NBA guy who once went 0-17 in an NBA game.

All great scorers have horrible shooting games. They may not finish with 0 makes, but that's because they just keep shooting.

Just last year Kobe had games of: 4/21, 4/19, 3/17, 2/12, 5/23 and 5/20.

This year Wade has gone 1/13 and 2/12. If you want to go closer to age with Barnes, as a rookie Wade had games of: 0/7, 1/9, 1/8 and 2/12.

Barnes is going to be just fine. And so will UNC as he adjusts to the college game and begins to assert himself more. I think they'll still finish the season in the top 10 or so.

Why is St. Louis at Duke a CBS National TV game?

Because it's Duke, man!

People will watch.

There's only one Duke game all season that's not on national TV (cable or network). And that game was still on ESPN3.com.

Does Kansas become the NCAA favorite starting today?

No.

But they're #2.

Selby's going to be a stud.

Really? I hadn't heard that officially yet. If so, yes, extremely tough break. Irving's incredible.

I'm kind of torn; part of me hopes he's out for the year, but wants to come back. Because Duke is still very much in the mix to win it all WITHOUT him. They're just consensus favorites with him.

So the best case scenario for me is that he's out, Duke wins it all, and he comes back to pair with his good buddy and the #1 recruit in the nation Austin Rivers, plus Curry/Dawkins/Thornton/2 other good perimeter recruits, and the 3 Plumlee's (Marshall's coming next year) down low.

But worst case; he doesn't come back, Duke doesn't win it all, and he goes in the draft anyway.

Selby is sensational in his debut. Kansas holds on for a 2 point win and extends it's nation's lomgest home winning streak.

A friend of mine told me that this morning. I just took a quick look around and didn't see any confirmation so he might have been wrong

Baylor/Gonzaga is a great game thus far.

Baylor is athletic as hell (and I do like Jones/Dunn). But Gonzaga is just playing better basketball to match that.

Pete C, Favre's gone. There's no excuse. Get your ass back in here to talk some college hoops, man.

Kansas with quite a scare; surprising. They're really good.

Duke with a tough, tough win tonight, after missing a lot of shots early and with an off night from Smith. Maryland was impressive as hell to me. Jordan Williams is a beast and Gary Williams is one heck of a coach. They just play so hard. I'm not sure I've seen a team all year as good as stripping the ball on drives to the hoop than Maryland.

For Duke, Mason's still learning, clearly. Seth Curry and Andre Dawkins may be two of the best 5 shooters in the country, at least. Tyler Thornton may have been the difference; quite a spark plug. What a luxury to have a guy that would start at PG for most teams in the country coming off the bench as your FIFTH guard. Wow.

Duke with a tough loss yesterday (I didn't get to see it until tonight--Tivo'd). Not going to win many games when you shoot 31%. Even though a lot of them were open, and they have 2 of probably the 5 best shooters in the country, they shot too many 3's and didn't get it inside enough. Nolan Smith didn't drive enough either. But give credit to Florida State. Their defense was fantastic. They really have Duke's number in Tallahassee.

UNC/Va Tech was a great game tonight. I love watching Va Tech play. Seth Greenberg is one of the most underrated coaches in the country. Malcolm Delaney is a stud. But their injuries are just too much for them; 4 of their better players all done for the year. Almost no team can battle from that. UNC's going to get better and better as the year moves along, I hate to say it. They have so much size and length on the inside; it's just raw. Henson's arms seem like they're 10 feet long. And Harrison Barnes stepped up big late tonight as well, with 11 big points in the last 5 minutes or so of the game. He basically won the game for them late. He's still going to be a star.

Umm, no. 16 point victory. Good try though.

Vandy got screwed today, IMO. They didn't play all that great down the stretch, but that no call on Jeffrey Taylor getting knocked to the floor on Vandy's last possession (in a 1 point game) was atrocious. Vandy's still going to have a great shot to win the SEC and be VERY dangerous in the tournament, IMO. They're a very, very good team this year, perhaps the most underrated in the country by rankings.

Dammit. UT wins a second ultra-close game in a row. Should have lost both.

Would have been 0-4 to start conference play, with UConn coming up for non-conference.

Uggh.

I hope the NCAA not only gets Bruce Pearl fired, but I hope that they disband the entire UT athletic department.

Wow.

Duke gets ROCKED by a Big East school with a losing conference record. And it took a foul at the buzzer for Ohio State to beat Northwestern yesterday.

This year's tournament is going to be WIDE open

A lot of ranked teams lost yesterday. Might not be much of a mix up in rankings

Duke NEEDS to get more out of the Plumlee brothers. Both are so damn talented, yet haven't taken over on the inside yet at all. They need to start.

Irving's injury obviously hurts; he may have been the best player in the country before he went down. But better play from them (and less reliance as 3's as a result) would go a LONG way.

Still think Kansas/Duke are the best two (Ohio State also impressive) but you're right, should be a great tournament.

How about Harrison Barnes now? The guy is still going to be an absolute stud.

Duke/UNC next week should be a fantastic game.

The NCAA tournament will be so much better this year then in the past. Now not only will games be on CBS, but also on TNT, TBS & TRU tv so we can chose what games to watch. Just like when I had a C-band satellite

No doubt, Jim. I can't wait. I continue to believe that the first 2 days of the tourney should be national holiday days. It's not like anyone is productive at work on those days anyway.

Should be awesome. I must admit I'm a little bit torn on the timing stuff, how they'll be able to stagger games more.

One the one hand that's great as we'll get to see more of each game, but on the other hand, part of the excitement to me is when you have 3-4 games down to the wire going on at the same time.
