How did Parise go without being traded??? I thought for sure he'd be with another team after the deadline.

All the Wild were being offered was a partial salary dump. The Wild would likely have bought Ladd out, which would save them about $3M a year from Parise's contract.

The things I love about this game …
Ayers was a great thing
And then last night … Bobby Ryan undergoes dependency treatment
100 days sober yesterday, celebrates by scoring a hat trick in his return. Cries on the bench after.
You're literally watching a young man save his life, using a game and love from teammates and fans.
Sometimes, the greatest stories write themselves.

I will always have a deep appreciation for and personal connection to people who overcome that particular demon.

Harsh!
Your owners do want to win tho, joe. You're safe.

Hope you are well.
Miss our chats.
Here's to hockey, soon.
I'm ok with next year, lets come back better.

Come on Joe. He didn't win a single game during the shutdown. He had to see the writing the wall.

Ha! Young Bowman sets them up, and Rocky knocks them down. SoMn reminds me that they do what they need to do to win, though, so I have to temper my frustration while keeping that in mind.

BETTMANN! must have some bills to pay
He's pushing a restart harder than any other sport.
We're usually treated like the red-headed step child, why all of a sudden are we rushing to be the guinea pigs?

There must be something in the TV contract that says they have to have playoff games or they don't get paid.
Why else would they push this bogus playoff scenario?
It makes no sense to me.....

They don't have a return date yet, but the 24 team playoffs seem to be a done deal.

NHL commissioner Gary Bettman announced Tuesday that the league is planning to return with a 24-team playoff tournament.
The 2019-2020 regular season is officially over. The top 12 teams in each conference (as of the March 12 pause in play) will participate in the 24-team playoff tournament, which means that the Sabres, Devils, Senators, Red Wings, Ducks, Kings, and Sharks have all been eliminated. Tournament games are expected to take place in two hub cities, with Las Vegas, Toronto, Chicago, Columbus, Edmonton, Dallas, Los Angeles, Minnesota, Vancouver, and Pittsburgh all in the running for hosting duties. There should be a follow-up announcement relatively soon about possible dates for games and which cities those games will be played in. Bettman suggested Tuesday that it may take 3-4 weeks to fully sort out the schedule and other logistics. Training camps could get underway around the beginning of July.

I have a question for my TalkVikes/Puckhead buddies on the board. Hossa and Doug Wilson will be inducted into the Hall of Fame. Do they deserve to be there? Hossa had big numbers on great teams, and Wilson was very good and steady, but Hall of Fame? Or, Hall of Really Good? Please help me figure this out!

Saw that yesterday and double-taked myself
Just my opinion, but both are HOVG guys.
Never reached IT imo.
Fantastic players who deserve lots of love, but they aren't HoF level.
Was a good article on each team's next HoFers.
Chicago definitely has a bunch coming with the multi-champ guys, at least 3 or 4 of them.
Those two are outside that group imo.

I see them like they talked about Suter. Solid numbers, longevity, but not game-changers.

Thanks, SoMn. I knew you could put it in perspective for me. Messier and Shanahan are HoF power forward guys. Hossa was really good, but did not always play to their level. The Hall should be for the elite of the sport.

23. Minnesota Wild: A team in transition following the somewhat unexpected firing of Bruce Boudreau. Dean Evason was just 12 games into his tenure when the season was halted, though he owned an 8-4-0 record.

Woooooooot!

We're # 23 !!!!!

6 minutes to go in the first and the Hawks are up 4-1? I didn't expect that!

Yeah, same old Oilers.....run and gun but no defense or goal tending.
And same old Hawks with every lucky bounce going their way.

A win is a win! Lucky bounces count in the stat sheet. I hope that we keep it going through the first round. The Hawks were not expected to do much this year, but every game the young guys get to play, will make it better for the future.

Yup, they all look the same on the score board. I sure hope the Wild can get some good bounces tomorrow. It would be nice if they actually played at a decent time to watch them. It sucks to have to either stay up late night or record the game and watch on Monday. The DVR is set since no matter how hard I try, I just can't seem to watch a game without getting all wound up so I can't get to sleep for a while after......

The scheduled game times for you guys are terrible! Hopefully, as they get deeper into the playoffs, they will see some better times.

Congrats Joe
Your boys looked GOOD
Kane and Toews were REJUVENATED
Most of the Oilers are NRFPT players, still.

As with baseball … I am finding out I miss the crowd reactions NOT AT ALL

I'm actually loving the new normal

Its the true game and nothing but the game
The Wild actually even got a fair shake ref-wise last night.
Shocked the hell out of me.
