I'm not saying Indianas not good ... but I find it hard to believe they're the best in the country.
Lost of good teams, but all of them seem to have flaws.

I guess that makes our sole conference road win seem significant.

I love that these very good teams have flaws. I don't want yesterday's UCLA cruising by everybody. Some great coaches, even more great players. You have to bring your A game every night, the way it should be.

I'm not as impressed with IU as the rest of the country seems to be. Not deep, and I think you can rough 'em up.

Still think Florida is the best team in the country......even after that awful performance.

How come Tom Izzo coached teams improve as the season progresses

and

the Gophers.........

Most disturbing to me, is the individuals don't even seem to get better.

Rodney is a good example of this. Is he a better player today than he was last year, two years ago, three?
Super athlete and really nothing about his game has improved. If you can't turn Williams into a player, who you gonna' recruit?

A resounding YES. His first two years he looked beyond lost, and now he's a solid contributor.

Is he playing as well as I had hoped or as he is seemingly capable of? Definitely not. He's still a far better player than he was two years ago, however.

I just don't see it. Aside from looking a little less lost, I see very little improvement in his game, and the numbers support that. His shot has not improved. His rebounding has not improved. A little better shot selection, yet his FG% has not improved. More minutes, yet his rebounding has not improved. He doesn't make his teammates better.

Specifically, in what areas do you think he has improved?

Sick win by the Badgers over Michigan.  Unbelievable running and turning 40-footer to tie it at the end of regulation.

Poor instruction, or poor execution by both teams at the end of regulation. LeVert had opportunity to foul, but didn't. And the officials let Hardaway continue to play after he fouled out.

Michigan is just not getting much from their front line. Burke and Hardaway are the best combo in the nation, but they need better play from Horford, Robinson and McGary.

Once again a big lead early evaporates, this time before the half.

Oseniks = complete waste of scholarship
Welch awful so far.

Mo actually gave them some decent PT. Can get position, but he just heaves the ball at the bucket.

Not really missing RWilliams, out tonight.

Nope

The way this skid has extended? only 1 win left in the regular season.

W Penn State
L Wisconsin, @ Iowa, @ Ohio State, vs Indiana
Wouldn't surprise me if they lost at Nebraska as well.

Just no leadership out there, and sub patterns are awful. In part, because the bench is not very good.

IMO, Tubby doesn't adjust well at all. They were clicking early in the year, teams changed up on them, and they can't adjust.

Pack it in on Mbakwe on man-man, and there is no clue what to do with the basketball.

Zone? More clue-less-ness.

Tonight, cut off the penetration, and let them out-shoot you from 3. Thought that era of sucking vs 3 pointers was done with. Nope.

Well said, Ed. I don't understand why we don't try to play a more uptempo style with how many guys we play, how worthless our halfcourt offense is, and how we have guys who are more athletes than BB players. We just set ourselves up to be in close games (if lucky) and then it depends on which teams executes better down the stretch, which doesn't bode well for us. Pretty frustrating to watch, after such high hopes not so long ago.

Doogie tweeted a couple of weeks ago that he believes Shaka Smart would come here because of Norwood's VCU connection. I say yes, please. If they have to continue this swoon for the rest of this season to get him in town, I'm on board.

This is Smith's best team at Minnesota. These are his recruits. Once again, Smith's team is growing more confused and ineffective as the season progresses, and he's being outcoached by almost everyone in the conference.

Smith's best team is snowballing or, as Eliason would have it, sinking of its own weight, meaning a team that we expected to play NCAA tournament games might not make it to the tourney at all.

"It's just another blown opportunity for us," Smith said.

The timing of Smith's latest ugly loss is interesting. Last year, Illinois pursued Virginia Commonwealth coach Shaka Smart. He turned down the job. Smart was hired at VCU as a 32-year-old, in a piece of managerial brilliance, by newish Gophers athletic director Norwood Teague.

Smith has a new, restructured contract that calls for a $2.5 million buyout. The way Smith has turned off the quintessential Gophers fans, that number is starting to look like a bargain.

Smith has seven regular-season Big Ten conference games remaining this season. Five of them look winnable. If he can't drag his most talented team back to .500 and make his program presentable for the NCAA tournament selectors, Teague should buy him out and lure Smart to The Barn.

Smith likes to blame his players for his recurring slumps, but when all of your players regress, during the season and during their careers, it's a coaching problem.

Good analysis as usual guys.
It didn't take a genius to know that the win AT Illinois happened mostly because the Illini missed shots.
They made them this time and we had no answer.
That's Illinois first road win in a longgggg time in the Big Ten.
We've all asked for an up-tempo attempt at least ... Nope.
Bunch of winnable games left. Should be interesting.
Shaka Smart would be too good to be true.

I started watching that game with 2 minutes left in regulation for reasons unknown. I don't care about either of those teams. I guess I did find it fun that Notre Dame would probably lose. Figured I'd watch the last couple minutes. Didn't know I'd be up for another hour+ watching 5 OT's

That Notre Dame guy that scored 12 points in the last 45 seconds of regulation........was that a record for most points by one player over a 45 second stretch?

The one I couldn't get over was how lucky that "tap in" was at the end of one of the OT's. The ND guy just batted at the ball...swiped at it randomly, really....and it somehow found its way through the basket.

Unbelievable game. Didn't turn out the way I wanted. And that Russ Smith guy made some of the worst decisions I've ever seen a player make. I thought Pitino was gonna die on the sidelines.

Might be hard. Gophers still paying Mason, Brewster, and Monson and Tuby just signed extension with a $2.5 M buyout

Unreal

Didn't someone not play until OT ..... And STILL had 17 pts!
I'm with you Matt
All I wanted was a ND loss
And as usual .... Something intervened ....

Gophs drop out of top 25.

So when they lose, it's not an upset any longer.

#20 Badgers come in to kick them Thursday.

Either they're not as talented as we thought, or Tubby's really doing a poor job coaching. I agree that things are not as bad as they appear now, but there's just such a noticeable difference in team attitude and cohesion since the first 5 B1G games. I mean, we scored 76 in the B1G opener against MSU, then 84 against Illinois, 81 against Indiana, and 75 against Michigan. Those numbers appear absolutely unreachable watching the offense recently (excepting the Nebraska game).

That's amazing faith, in a team that's in the middle of a collapse.
Badgers will thrash this team.

I'm glad that there will be a Wild game on Thursday night so there will be something else to watch.

Badgers haven't exactly looked like world beaters themselves this season, but yes, I'm sure they'll beat us because that's just how things always go.

I don't get why locals are SO down on this team. They're in a bad stretch, but the national people (who certainly do not have a Minnesota bias) aren't anywhere near as down. Ken Pomeroy has them as the 13th team in the nation. CBS and ESPN have them as a 4th or 5th seed in the NCAA tournament at this point. There is still enough time to play themselves out of the tournament, but to simply count on that sounds depressing as hell.
