It's great to see Bostick and Carter really getting the hang of it. Bostick showed me some athleticism and quickness that I had become convinced he didn't have. What's even more remarkable is that this W came even with your best player (Nolen) putting up a complete stinker.

Man, I wish I could see more Gophers games out here.  What a great win.  I did catch this one on gamecast at the end and on the phone with my brother giving me play by play.  Incredible to come back and win like that.

Gotta love what Tubby's doing.  Keep it up!

Nolen seemed to be trying too hard/pressing or something. He was completely out of it. Thank goodness Westbrook took over.

UNBELIEVABLE WIN...

Are you kidding me, down 14 in the second in the Kohl Center and come all the way back hitting every clutch shot down the stretch, blocking shots, forcing steals with the press.

They stunk so bad in the first half I started watching a movie, Tubby goes to the press and Sconnie couldnt answer. Great win and.....

GO GOPHERS!!!!!!

Best win since the Clem Haskins era.  Sorry, Monson.

Maybe because he's a good coach when nobody's paying attention?

Or maybe he's just been lucky.  It doesn't hurt that the Big West is really poor this year.  I'm happy he's not here.

I'm in shock.

What an unbelievable win. We were dead in the water until the final minute.

Wisconsin's 4th home loss in 8 YEARS. That's just amazing.

Wow.

***************************
The block by Carter was THE play of the game.

Also nice to have a coach that can actually help to win games.

And make adjustments...it got to the point where Sampson and Iverson were dead weight on the floor. Nicely done to get 5 guys to fly around the floor the rest of the game.

And yeah, that was a SWEET block by Carter.

Those 2 guys need to get stronger for the Big 10 a very physical conference

When the game started, the Gophers were dominating and I thought they just might pull it off.   But then the Badgers went on something like a 17-2 run and I started folding clothes.

What you hope is that they can at least hang in close in a situation like that and at least make a respectable show - - - but then to come on at the end and tie it up to send it into overtime!   Wowza!

Tubby seems to have a knack for making the necessary adjustments that throw the other team off their game, and the results are fantastic.   What a coach!

This is a young team with a TON of promise.

I really like the Tubby assess his players throughout the game and then at crunch time he seems to have the right combination. I think the last 5 minutes and overtime he used only 6 players and that was because Johnson fouled out. BTW, I think that was a ticky tack foul on him to end his night. It was a great shot block.

I agree.   I watch these games amazed at how little a person has to do to earn a foul.   Of all the sports, I probably "get" basketball the least, as I can almost never spot a foul when it's called.   It just doesn't seem that the refs are consistent, and they almost never call traveling.   But if just a tap on the arm can result in a foul - it makes me wonder if that's designed to just slow the game down or something.

Did anyone else think that the calls felt one-sided a lot of times last night, or is it just the homer in me?

I thought the fouls were even but  you touched on something I was complaining about, traveling.  The Badgers got away with a bunch of those.

Monson's a real  for me, because I really thought he was one of the better coaches in the country while he was at Gonzaga.  And I got to see some of that firsthand.

But then at the U he was not good at all.

I'm sure, as usual, the truth lies somewhere in between.

I hated Monson with the best of them but I do think he was really handicapped by the restrictions.  He didn't catch a break in that regard.  Good luck to him but that's about all I will say.  It's a new era now

Now that the new guys are emerging the Gophers have a measure of athletic ability and pure talent that they have lacked in the past. I can’t wait until White / Williams Jr and Mbakwe join the mix. Tubby is bringing in the talent and doing a great job of coaching it.

I think the fact that Tubby can bring his team back from a 13 point deficit (vs. Iowa) and then a 14 point deficit (vs. Wisconsin) shows he has one quality that seems to elude many other coaches. He is able to reassess in the middle of a game and make adjustments. As we've seen all too often, coaches go in with a gameplan and stick to it no matter what the other team shows. But Tubby can coach on the fly - and that will make all the difference.

Absolutely.

And combine that with 11 players averaging double-digit minutes and you're going to be a LOT fresher down the stretch.

This game has that typical back-to-reality scenario to it that has cost us in years past.
Lets see if Tubby has us past those days.
SHOULD be a 5-10 point Gopher win.

Wow, some great shooting so far.
We're boarding well when its there.
We're pretty good.
You have to just ride out the emotion waves on the road and we have the metality to do that it seems.
You can't fall down double-digits, you just have to keep plugging away until the emotion for the home team subsides a little and the talent has to take over.
It surprised me how much Hoffarber has disappeared lately from the offense.
If he can come back and be a usable piece, it'll make us even that much better.

Man, I love teams that can run, (but its not their entire offense).
We're good at that. Knowing when to, and when not to.
