Proud of the guys for battling back, despite being younger, less tourney-experienced, injured (Nate & Akeem), and yes, out-coached. We very nearly had 'em knocked out there with about 5 minutes left. Only Upshaw could save 'em, and his senior leadership came to the surface. He just carried that team at a moment when they were bewildered and getting manhandled by the likes of Coffey, McBrayer, and Murphy. He'd been there before (ask MSU) and it showed, big-time. Nate struggled. We missed Springs' outside game, which often led to more inside looks for Lynch & Murphy. We weren't well enough prepared to attach the zones they used. That's on Rich. All in all, this was a good learning experience for the guys and should drive them to fanatical off-season work. We'll have more horses next year. The Big Ten title is within reach for this group. Coffey will be the leader, as a sophomore. I'd expect recruiting to continue its positive trend as well. We'll look back on this season as the beginning of a huge turnaround for the program.
