LaRon Dendy is a very good player. He'd start on the Gophers now that Mbakwe is out (is that saying much? you decide). He is a transfer from Iowa State.

I see what you mean on the fundamentals thing. I think it's part preparation and part youth. Very strange.

I read that Washington is the only #1 seed left. What was the seed of the Gophers?

Edit: I see that we are a #6 seed, which means that we are the lowest seed to make it to NY.

Mbakwe gets his 6th year. Obviously it's up to him, but IMO that was the bigger barrier. Sounds like he wants to come back.

That's great news. The only player moving on after the year is RS III. Drop Trevor into the middle of the group that is winning all these games and next year could be a hell of a lot of fun.

Mike Max reported it but it sounds like Trevor hasn't heard and now WCCO took the story down from their site.

WCCO pulls story from website, Mbakwe says he hasn't heard anything yet. If Max blew this one, I'll...I'll...do something dramatic for sure.

And the NCAA seems like the type of organization that will take it away from him just because someone like Mike Max prematurely reported something. "We'll show you." Am I right or am I right?

Mbakwe would be doing himself a favor by waiting another year. He needs the time strengthen the knee and right now, he's probably not a first round pick. If he comes back and has a great season in college, he could be a top 15 pick. Plus, the Gophers would be so much better with him drawing attention, which would open up the floor for their outside shooters. Rodney Williams could also thrive with Mbakwe on the floor.

The heat is really on to win the NIT now. The Gophers won the women's equivalent of the NIT today.

They won? That's fantastic. I watched a little bit of Baylor's lady basketball team the other day. They have a really good player that will not be available to the Lynx, who select third in the draft. I was wondering who would be more desirable on a WNBA team, she or Maya Moore.

Here she is:

Then what tournament did the Gopher Women play? You mean there is a tournament in case you weren't good enough to get invited to the tournament you get invited to when you aren't good enough to get invited to the NCAA tournament? By that time I figured you were at the NIT level.

Wow. Missed most of the game, saw the near-choke job, and then an intense OT. More fun than I've had in a long time listening to a game.
