Could never close the gap in the 2nd half.  Just slowly let the game get out of hand.  Lackluster ending.

This wasn't the issue by far, but just to be fair. It's nice to be Duke in the eyes of the refs too. They get away with murder.

Totally agree. One instance, Coleman going to hoop and turns his body to avoid contact and hits Duke players extended arm and flopping then gets called for charging. Duke also made some pretty crazy shots. They do have some very nice players and hard to compete with. Gophers will be Ok.

Memphis today at noon on AXS.tv

Yes, elite programs traditionally get the benefit of bad calls. The bottom line is that Duke is a lot better than the Gophers. And this comes from somebody who absolutely hates Duke.

Duke, NC, and Kentucky will always draw top players that won't even consider Minn just from reputation and exposure

Nice win by Gophers over a ranked team. Dre Hollins showed his home town school how good he is with 41 pts.

On of the most efficient scoring games I've ever seen. 41 points on 16 FGAs.

12/16 from the field
5/5 from 3
12/13 from the line

When Dre goes off, he goes OFF. of course, the converse is true, but the Gophers need him to attack and look for his shot.

Gophs finish strong in the Bahamas
Absolutely shocking thing about Hollins' 41 pts vs Memphis?
That its 1 pt away from the Gopher record.
42? Seriously?
That floors me.
Thompson, Lockhart, Hudson, McHale, Brewer, Behagen, Olberding, Jacobsen, Winfield, Tucker, Williams, Lenard, Garmaker, Mencel,  etc etc etc ...... 42?
Hell, Willie Burton scored 53 in an NBA game, fer cripessake.

Hasn't both the shot clock and three point line been added since many of those guys played?

Yeah.

Big 10 were early adopters of the three point line - using it in conference games in 82/82.

45 second shot clock was introduced in 85/86. Dropped to 35 in 93/94.

Yes. The Big Ten finally got tired of Bobby Knight going into the 4 corner offense every time the Hooosiers went ahead 4-2.

They made it a little too interesting in the last ten minutes, but they have been away a long time.

Very entertaining to watch.

Again they're pretty darn good moving the ball vs man, test will be zones.

Hit a few more 3s and they could be pretty decent. Look better overall on defense, too.
