This place should be jumping today!

Lucia begging for at least a 3-year extension, and it sounds like it is forthcoming. (according to Maturi)
And, the annual "flee the sinking ship" starts, Aaron Ness forgoing his final year to head to the NHL.
Was excited about his signing, and it went downhill from there. The typical .... highly talented, but too light-in-the-hockey-pants type of guy we load up on every year.
Seemed disinterested some nights.

We are almost not the first choice of top Minnesota HSers anymore at this point, that bleeding has to be stopped, Don.

UMD, BSU and SCSU all run better hockey programs than the U.

You'll get no rise from me on that one, Matt.
Thats what i was getting at.
Was droolign about all the wonderful Sophs playing for HTown and DE last week, and then thought ....
"oh, crap, they'll want to go to UMD"
That should never happen, but we are at that point. You've got serious work to do, Donny.
Get Potulney out on the road recruiting. Tell him to wear his rings.

if you get a chacne ... check out foxsportsnorth.com tonight... they are showing the drirector cut on how games get covered.
Interesting as hell. 9 cameras, and you get to listen to the directors and their comments.
Dammit! Why wasn't I told how cool of a career this would be?

I understand the move, but it pisses me off.
(the timing)
Looks like we can't win the WCHA anymore, so we're bailing.
Who gives a damn if Penn State needs a league?

Yeah, terrible idea all around.   How they can piss away the ND/Min, Min vs other MN teams...ect rivalries is beyond my comprehension.  I get the money aspect but that's horse crap.

Look up the video half-way down the page about the "U Hockey Kings"
http://www.startribune.com/

Pretty cool
9 years ago already.
Looking forward to the rest of the feature coming out this weekend.
That was one fun ride.

His jump over the boards into the bench is still the best celly I've ever seen.
I still get chills watching highlights of those two wins.

Very cool.
Always big news when a kid who plays south of the Metro gets a chance at the U.

Really disappointed with UND.
The goalie for Michigan was a standout.
I'll be rooting for the Bulldogs, but would have loved UND/UMD

Yep, worried about Dulloot being able to score on that dude.
He's tough.
Hope so, tho!
Two of the best tenders in the country left. Not a coincidence.

Part of the entertainment at the Twins game last night was monitoring the score of the UMD game. Was in OT when the Twins game ended. The family in front of us was entirely decked out in Bulldogs gear. Felt bad for them, because I could tell they wanted to see the hockey game.....but I'm sure it was their first time getting tickets to a game at Target Field, and they were set on going to the Twins game because they paid an arm and a leg for the tickets on StubHub.

There were some brave Sioux fans that wore their Sioux gear to the Twins game last night. I wanted to heckle, but I resisted. I'm sure these were people who paid $1,000 for tickets to the championship game in anticipation, and instead had to sell them to UMD or Michigan fans for $50 or something. Honestly, they deserve it for how they treated the whole thing like a foregone conclusion.

Best part of last night was watching all the Sue fans sit moping, watching a game they were sure was gonna feature their boys.
Great win for UMD.
Loved every minute of it. Some wonderful stuff. If you don't feel good for that little school, youdon't get college athletics.
A DII football title and a DI hockey championship. Wow.
We backers of the U stand in awe.

It wasn't UND, Mich or SCSU.  It wasn't the Gophers but that's the next best thing

HUGE (if true)

We have not been the same since Guentzel left.
Don, Guentzel and Potulney? No excuses.
Time to right this ship.

Kudos to Pete ... rumor confirmed.
The best coach we ever let go comes back.
IMO ... this is setting up a nice run. get us back where we belong, then Donny can ride off into sunset and turn over the reigns to Mike.
With Guentzel/Donny/Potulney on a bench and at practice ... you should not lose. (with the talent we get)
Looks like UMDs national title was a win/win. They deserved it and it was fun to watch ... and it sparked a big move in the right direction with the Gophers.
Time to get this program back where it belongs.

Don was on KFAN today and wouldn't confirm the hiring saying he is still looking at coaches
