My favorite sports team (Twins), hates "knee-jerk decisions" (unless it involves acquiring a mediocre relief pitcher)....my 2nd favorite sports teams (Gophers whatever sport) makes the most "knee-jerk decisions" I've ever seen.

You can but it's an add on.  it comes with the sports package that includes all the Fox regionals.

I have that add on, but I don't get BTN with Directv. Am I wrong? What channel is it if you get it?

Lucia did not deserve an extension. In fact short of making a run in the NCAA, he should be fired after the season.

It seems to be clear to me that the team is back, this season. (I know that the season has just begun.) He has had some health issues in the past few years. Don't you think that contributed to the uncharacteristic play? Isn't it true that his health has improved as of late?

His health has been fine for at least a couple of years now. He has successfully recruited numerous players who now have NHL careers. Despite that he hasn't gotten a whiff of the tournament. As far as this year the Gophers won two games against UMD despite giving up over 100 shots on goal. UMD dominated the play, but Patterson stood on his head and some incredibly talented players made some nice individual plays to score goals on very few opportunities. Personally I don't think the play of the last few years is uncharacteristic. Lucia had a great first 2 years with Woog's players. It has been down hill ever since. He should have had to prove himself this year before getting an extension.

Remember, it was two games against UMD in Duluth. This was a rivalry series, and it was clear to me that UMD was fully investing themselves. What was particularly promising for the return of Gopher hockey was the play of the younger players, to me.

I've been so negative, lately. It's nice to be on the positive side of a topic of discussion.

What was encouraging was the individual play of some of the young players. I was not impressed with the system. This team will win or lose on the raw talent of the players. Not because of how Lucia puts it together. I just see no reason to have extended him at this time.

I was going to say "613-ish" off the top of my head.  That (610) sounds about right.

This Rau kid has a chance to be special. You see it right away, the "it" factor. He just knows where to be on the ice. That's total instints. Can't be taught. Wish I had it

Vermont isn't as bad as the 6-0 butt kicking they took.  Still, we let that get away and let them off the hook.  You could see we got a little complacent and didn't keep the peddle down.

Agreed. I think Friday was actually Vermont's season opener. On a side note: Kyle Rau is just impressing the hell out of me.

Gopher Hockey HAS to be great this season. It may be the only high note in our sports town (except of course by the great job done by the Lynx).

Yeap, Friday was Vermont's season opener.   And, it showed.

BTW - I was trying to remember.  Who drafted Rau?

Just wasn't our day Sunday.
They scored on some great plays,. nothing was cheap, and they had two days to stew about their performance Friday night.
We'll be fine. A little attitude re-adjustment never hurts.
Things were coming too easy, you could see it early, even when we were up 3-1 and cruising.
Too young to not take lumps.
I hate stupid penalties, but I do love them being tougher 9which they most definitely are). We have a couple nasty-attitude guys, first time in awhile.
They could even possibly play for the Sue if they cranked it up a couple notches, thats how nasty they are .....

I'll be at the game tonight and was just reading in the paper about the Goph's #1 ranked power play. Sounds like they are making a major rebound after last years letdown.

So Rau is the guy to look for?
