I can relate to the turning the game off. As a lifelong Minnesota sports fan I've done that more times than I can count.

I know. Seems ridiculous their playoff games aren't televised given the record they have. We're still a long way from recognizing women's sports much, and I have to admit I'm just as guilty. I hardly ever watch any women's sports.

Once the Gophers get beat out, this is the one sport where I can immediately transition into a UMD/BSU/Mav/SCSU fan .... its MN hockey. thats what matters.

I love how the Gopher program has recycled the same formula.

Raus playing a role we always have
Serratore fits the grinder energy role filled by so many before, a Koalska clone or Tony Looch-type
I'm certain we have a better tender than many years ...
I'm concerned we struggled mightily with a beaten-down Beaver Bunch, but the pieces, are here.
Best bench in hockey. You've got a classic HOFer, the real genius in Guentzel, and the assassin, in Potulney.

Kids a stud tender.

Seeing Walsh crushed at the end after giving up the game-winner was tough.
Thankless job. The guy single-handedly made that series tight. No shame son. Hold your head up.

Sorry Matt for letting you ride this one out solo. Like I said, I watched most of the game Friday night and was shocked it was a 2-1 OT game. I figured last night would be a little more of a walk for the Gophers. So... I took a little break to watch the Big East BB and flipped it to the hockey game midway through the 2nd. To my utter disbelief, the Beavers are up 2-0!! Literally 10 seconds after I turn it on the Gophers get 1, but then the Beavs score about 25 seconds later. It just felt like the Gophers were on the power play the whole game though, and it was inevitable that they'd come back. We played a really good series, especially Walsh, but the U definitely deserved the sweep. Good luck to the Gophers now, especially if you're playing that school that's so lame it doesn't even have a mascot!!

BTW, really cool that the Gophers are still playing all the instate schools (UMD, StCloud, Mankato, BSU) in non conference games. I see the U is coming up to Bemidji again next year at the beginning of the season. I think the "Minnesota Cup", or whatever they're calling it, will be a great event.

Gotta admit I turned the game back on when I went to bed. There were 14 minutes left and the Beavers still had the lead. Not long after, MN tied it up. My wife was like "When is this game gonna end? It's been on all night!" The announcers mentioned a possible OT with 3 minutes left. My wife was like "NOOOOOO!" "Why?" I asked. "Because there's nothing worse than watching hockey" she said. I said "Don't worry. The Gophers will score before regulation is over." When the Gopher guy skated in for the winning goal, as he crossed the blue line I said, "Here it is." And half a second later, there it was. She goes "You're amazing." First time I've heard that.

I feel terrible for BSU. It's the same thing every time they play the Gophers. Soooooooo predictable.

Gotta love the effort of Bemidji and their goaltender especially.....what did he have in the two games, over 90 saves?

Was flipping back and forth between MN and UND. Sioux (er should I say the soon to be UND Blizzard or something else nonthreatening to everyone) lost to Michigan Tech so they have to play a game tonight.

Michigan Tech looks huge. Played really well last night. UND looked flat.

SMF, if U of M is out of it, you cheer for UMD/BSU/Mav/SCSU

And of course you always silently cheer for UND, correct??????

Not a whole love here for my alma mater. I will still cheer for UND.

Gonna miss rivalries when the stupid Big Ten forms its own hockey league. Go take your puck Big 10 and run home with it.

UND and St. Cloud are gonna be in a pretty damn good conference when the WCHA dissolves.
