Exactly Jeff

Being clever when you're already down and out isn't comforting ....

Just read that Gray had very little sleep Fri due to birth of his Twins. Well then he should have stepped back

This is called ....
"God, I hope he falls down"

That's our leading tackler...by far....whiffing on the tackle.

Gopher QB Recruit Phil Nelson had another good night, leading his Mkto West team to a dominating win over S St Paul.
Nelson and West advance to the Dome for the 4A title game.

    state semi's

Wilson 16-for-16 for 178 yds and 4 TDs.

We have one guy with more than 2 sacks on the year.....and he's our MLB (with 3).  Can you believe that's an IMPROVEMENT on last year???

Who made an excuse for him Jeff? I really don't understand criticizing a guy for not saying "gee I didn't much sleep coach. I know I am the leader of the team and I ran the first team all week in practice and this is a trophy game against our arch rival, but I'm a little tired. Maybe we should give Max a shot today." That's absurd on its face and indicative of the lengths some people will go to in order to take a dig at Gray.

It just goes both ways with this guy.  It's really unfair in both regards, IMHO.

He has been terrible pretty much this whole year but people will say it's because he's still learning ect...

Others will defend him when there really is no defense.

The fact of the matter is that he's not been a college level QB at all.  A college level athlete?  Heck yeah, off the charts.   If Brewster didn't dick around with him from the get go, we may have had a hell of a starting QB.

I was pleased ... looked like Saturday they FINALLY just said  .... "he's what we got, we're puttin the ball ni his hands EVERY play"
he won the Iowa game that way at the end.
Gotta do it as we transition here, from awful to getting-better. Put it in his hands and let him create.

He is playing way better now than at the start of the year. Against Iowa and Michigan State he looked like a legitimate starting Big Ten QB. I think what happened Saturday had more to do with a fired up Wisconsin team coming off a couple of tough losses to good teams than it did with Gray missing sleep.

That and loads of superior talent across the board.

To me, Gray is our best option. He's no world beater, obviously, but he gives you the best chance to win. Certainly a shame Brewster didn't bring him along earlier in his career.

Run with him next year while Mankato redshirts.

Tim I also read that in the Mich St game he took a helmet to the back and was unable to run or throw all week

His mobility was restricted. He was able to throw.

I guess not. Some people in the New Mexico press were talking like it's a done deal.

N Mexico hires Bob Davie instead.  Their loss.

Agreed, I'd take Mason. Davie sent a lot of guys to the NFL, if memory serves -- but with all that talent couldn't put together great teams. Mason's ability to sniff out underrated talent would be a far better fit at NM.

I've apologized a hundred times to Mason, but if that hasn't been enough, I'd do it again ...
I was one of the first whining and bitching about him not getting us up the ladder.
The trash we employed between then and now sure made me eat those hopes.
I'll never miss "Mason Face" as he tried to figure out how to manage the clock ... but I do miss us at least having ONE thing to hang our hats on. (one hell of a running game)
Couple more years of Mason, then handing things over to Kill .... wow, coulda been better for sure. Sorry, Glen.

The standards are so low that we reluctantly bring ourselves to say that Gray is "no world beater"? He is the worst QB in the conference, isn't he?

Gray is a beast! Some amazing passes today, and willed his way into the endzone for the only touchdown. He handed Moulton a long touchdown but it slipped through his hands.

Gray is every bit as dynamic as Vince Young or Michael Vick were. I'm completely convinced. He just doesn't have the receivers or line to make teams pay consistently. Never seen anything quite like him.
