gophers class of 2012 Here are the 29 Gophers players who are expected to make up the incoming class of 2012. OFFENSE Duke Anyanwu, ATH, Blaine, 6-4, 225: Late commit adds athleticism to class. Isaac Fruechte, WR, Rochester (Minn.) Community and Technical College, 6-3, 210: Has three years of eligibility left. James Gillum, RB, Gulf Coast (Miss.) Community College, 6-0, 200: Could be an immediate contributor at position of need. Jamel Harbison, WR, Mallard Creek (N.C.), 6-0, 191: Gophers beat out Vanderbilt, others for him. Isaac Hayes, OL, St. Thomas Academy, 6-3, 270: Could wind up playing center with his frame. Ben Lauer, OL, Wayzata, 6-7, 270: Another late commit adds to Jerry Kill's in-state haul. Mitch Leidner, QB, Lakeville South, 6-4, 220: Good size, wowed coaches at camp last summer. K.J. Maye*, ATH, Mobile (Ala.) Murphy, 5-10, 193: Playmaker who could be slot receiver or RB. Andre McDonald, WR, Hopkins, 6-3, 200: Physically gifted player who could be a difference-maker. Philip Nelson, QB, Mankato West, 6-3, 216: Perhaps the top prize of this year's class. Could be QB of the future. Jonah Pirsig, OL, Blue Earth Area, 6-9, 300: Could eventually hold down a tackle spot for years. Maxx Williams, TE, Waconia, 6-4, 225: Versatile athlete spent time at quarterback in high school. Rodrick Williams Jr.*, RB, Lewisville (Texas), 5-11, 220: One of two players from his school to pick Gophers. DEFENSE Jeremy Baltazar, DB, Blinn (Texas) Community College, 6-0, 196: Good size for a corner and runs a 4.5 in the 40. Briean Boddy, DB, Coffeyville (Kan.) Community College, 5-11, 175: Turned himself into D-I player via JUCO season. Scott Ekpe*, DT, Lewisville (Texas), 6-4, 265: Among handful of early enrollees after December graduation. Jordan Hinojosa, DT, Miami Central, 6-3, 265: Hard worker. Gophers beat out Michigan State and West Virginia. Antonio Johnson*, DB, Shaker Heights (Ohio), 6-0, 185: Called Jerry Kill "the ideal coach." Roland Johnson*, DT, Butler (Kan.) Community College, 6-2, 295: Good-sized DT had offers from Illinois, Colorado State. Alex Keith, DE, Columbia (Mo.) Hickman, 6-4, 235: Working to add weight to frame. Nick Rallis, S, Edina, 6-0, 200: Younger brother of current Gophers linebacker Mike Rallis. Martez Shabazz, CB, Trinity Valley (Texas) Community College, 5-11, 170: Runs a 4.36 in the 40; decommitted from Baylor. Yoshoub Timms, DT, Fort Walton Beach (Fla.), 6-2, 265: Late commitment picked Gophers over Syracuse, Southern Miss. Damarius Travis, DB, Pensacola (Fla.), 6-1, 194: Adds more depth to a position of need.
