Here is the thing. The Gophers need to at least win 3 and possibly run the table on all 4 non conference games to get a minor bowl bid. The bottom line is that Brewster will need to pull in 2 more consecutive recruiting classes like the last one before he can even think realistically of competing with the big boys in the Big Ten. We had a one time recruiting class. Ohio State and Michigan pull in classes of that caliber almost every year.

Well it took a year for Charter to pick up the BTN so I could see the Gophers, and now this week they are on ESPNU, another station that I don't get because it is on the higher pay sports tier

You're kidding!   I don't get ESPNU either.

So locally we don't get the game?    Baloney sausage!

Correct and it is a road game.

I guess we could call Charter and tell we want the Sports Tier and then Monaday cancel it and just pay the pro-rated portion of the $6

Yeah, ESPNU is part of the Fox regional package (not sure why????).  Thankfully I get that although I have to pay extra.  I think it's 10 bucks a month but I get about 30 channels.  I probably use 2, Fox North for Gopher hockey and FSC for Arsenal soccer.

That's exactley the problem with that tier, a person won't watch all of them. I had it at one time when the NFL Network was on there and when they dropped it, I dropped it. It was the only channel I watched, so I couldn't see paying

Just ordered the sports teir at $5 a month. They said I could cancel if not happy. I will check out the NHL channel to see if that makes it appealing to keep. In the mean time, I will see the Gophers tonight

If I cancell Monday, it might cost me about 40 cents, but then they could be on there again later in the year and if I tried again, Charter might get made at me.

Looks like Weber is doing ok tonight so far.
I see we still can't stop a passing game however.

Same old, same old.
Just cannot stop people.
Giving up chunks of yards now.
Same m.o., start pretty well, take leads, then slowly wear down, get caught, and passed.
By any team out there.

Looking really good. Weber was great on the drive for a TD where we only had the 4 point lead. Great poise.

I was grumpy about our D last week and, at times, this week.   We still give up way too many big plays but we are certainly South Park (bigger, faster and uncut).    We still need more pressure and we have zippy action at LB.

On O, we are pretty solid but our play calling gets too cute at times.  Decker won't sniff the Heisman but he would be a legit consideration if he were on a recognizable program.  Weber was good and bad.

Good, most of his throws, and that 3rd and long when he saved our asses after that botched snap.
Bad - he needs to get rid of the ball when the play isn't there.  He takes a lot of bad sacks.

ST's.  We still are very solid here.

Good stuff Jeff.
A work in progress.
I was gonna mention the STs.
Lots of good field position.
That really can help turn programs around.
Tough to have success when you start deep in your own zone or when your opposition has a shorter field than you.
We're getting there. Keep working boys. Keep recruiting speed.

Liking the balance.
250 passing yds
150 rushing yds
Staying away from being one-dimensional

Absolutely the play of the game. Right there is when momentum swung our way and a few plays later when he completed the 4th down conversion was when it fully switched.

I didn't get to watch the game but I kept watching the score.   Way to go Gophers - and hopefully there will be some good momentum for the rest of the season.   There is still some work to do, obviously, but what a nice start.

And my other favorite team, Mizzou, beatdown their opponent today.   Somehow these make up a little bit for the Twins loss.

If the Gophers are going to continue to just rush 3, and drop back 8 against 5 receiver sets, they need to jam the receivers at the line to break up their rhythm. saw too many wide open receivers last night

Losing Bennett is a blow.
But one we will probably overcome.
This is Tailback U, after all.
In all seriousness, MBIII and Maroney are easily in the Top-10 RBs in the NFL right now.
Pretty nice feather in the U's cap. Amazing we didn't put together better teams during their careers here.
They are both really solid, violent runners. Enjoyed them both when they were here and love seeing them succeed at the highest level.
It's not a new take, but I like Brewster's comment on it today.
One man's misfortune is another man's opportunity.

Shady Salomon looked good last week and I can see him getting better as the year goes on.

Good thing the Gophers have a couple of easy teams coming up so the replacements get some real game day work in.
