Good first half and Gray looks like a totally different player. Need to keep the momentum up.

Too inconsistant, especially on defense. Run game could be better also. But rather be up 30-7 than down! Optimus Prime with 2 sacks. Wilhite having another good game. And we might just have a good one in Wells. He looks like a real good tackler.

Sure enjoyed seeing Shoretell drive the team. I much more enjoy that game then a running QB. They do recruit RB for that job. Gray still not much of passing game so defense can play more to the run

Shoretell looked great on his first drive. Nice passes. But you got to hand it to Gray today too. 75 yard TD run. He only passed 8 times, but completed 6 of them for 2 TD's and more importantly was more accurate. He still had one overthrow though on an easy pass.

If anything, it's an argument for using short bursts of Shortell to keep the defense off balance. Both looked good today, but make no mistake that New Hampshire did all of their prep for facing Gray's game.

I believe the other one was a 3rd down drop by Fruechte. But yeah, I'm not completely sold on Gray's passing yet either. More confident in Shortell. But we'll see. Central Mich then Syracuse coming.

I see a couple more FCS schools pulled the upset. And just like last week, a few more lost close. Glad we weren't in that group today.

Nice
Baby steps
Pound someone you should pound
Then your coach sits and says ... "we are on the bottom of the build, we have a long ways to ggo"
Sure feels like we are in good hands.
Couple of the Clown Coaches we had in the past would have been exhorting students to buy Rose Bowl tickets tonight.
We seem to be getting more athletic looking.
But have a long ways to go. Feels so much better tho.

Well put man, baby steps indeed but I feel SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much better with Kill in charge.

It would be great to finish out 4-0. We'll get a couple conference scalps and that sets us up for a Bowl Game. That would be HUGE progress.

Everything that surrounds success is good for ya
Beat who ya should
Impress some borderline kids looking for an up-and-coming program in a huge conference
Start picking up some TV games, and then even more recruits
brick by brick, build this thing

Was surprised today ... got the latest ESPN the Magazine issue
HUGE articles ranking the top-to-bottom franchises in pro sports, and the same in college football.
I read the top ten of course, then start to look for the Gophs.
Unfortunately, started at the bottom and worked my way back.
Stopped several times and wondered if I had missed them.
Had to be in the 100s. Nope
80s? Did I miss them?
What? still not showing up in the 60s?
Did they forget us?
Found us at #40. Kinda gave me some life.
All of these rankings were compilations including points for record, history, fan treatment, community involvement, academics, etc ...
Not a bad starting point.
I actually feel like we have a real chance to crawl back into relevance. Soon.
Bet there will be waves, tho  .... remind me to be patient.

No doubt man. We have a legit shot at cracking the top 20 with a 6-0 start. Won't be easy but it can be done. I've been impressed with aspects of this team. Not all, some are brutal, but the progress is obvious.

Our kicking game has been especially atrocious.

After two games, against admittedly iffy opponents, this has the looks of a solid football team. They are going to take some beatings along the way, they still tend to be too mistake prone, but the athleticism and football skill is there.

On the defensive side especially they are much improved. The line in particular has been impressive. They have some good guys there.

Yes sir, agree. The DLine has been the biggest bright spot.

This.

Look at this team compared to this time a year ago (or two years ago)...just looks better coached.

And Iowa/Wisco/'braska all lose on the same day. Life is good.

It is good timing. In a year when the Gophers are trying to re-establish themselves, the big 10 appears to be down, and the schedule seems favorable too

Depending on which poll you look at, as of right now, the Gophers only have two games on their schedule against ranked teams. Michigan and Michigan State, and they are both at home. (Wisconsin and Nebraska are hanging on at the bottom of the USA Today Poll after losing, but dropped off the AP poll).

I can't recall a year recently when you could say this. Usually it seems like half the schedule at least is against rated teams. I think 7-5 and a bowl game is a very achievable goal.

A good article on Gray's 75 yard TD run. It seemed like an easy play. But it was the result of a good call by the offensive coordinator and a smart decision by the QB.

Good take on whats been happening with these mid-size schools
They give us fits, and its pretty easy to know why
Games against the MAC aren't record-padders anymore.
Lots of good kids who feel slighted. And this is their one shot at revenge.
So ... that said ... a convincing win this week will only solidify our hopes for improvement.
Look forward to every Gopher game right now, wasn't that way for awhile. Well, ok, not true ... always looked forward to the games, just didn't always feel positive about them ...
Mr Kills changing that quickly.

Hey Western Michigan went to a bowl game last year. And they played Purdue pretty close in it. Niether of which the Gophers can say they did last year.
