SMF mentioned it before but that TCU loss is becoming more acceptable. They are at Baylor and beating them right now

If they do win, they should be top 5, IMO.

Kill cracks me the hell up. Huge win that came down to the last play, at home. Sideline reporter grabs him.

Coach, huge win you must be pumped.

Total hick voice that never rises above a -68 decibel "weellllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll, we have kids that show a lot of mental toughness. Coach Reeves said if we get a ball kicked to us we would have a chance. They did, we got a nice block and Myrick can ruuunnnnn".

I was waiting for the obligatory Forrest Gump "Jennnnnny" at the end.

Same thing on radio
Guy says "you take pride in being the coach of the special teams, that was a special play"
Long pause .....
"uhhhhhhh, nooooooooo I'm not the special teams coach, that is Coach Blahrderharhar" ..... and then he broke into the same speech, just waitin on getting one to ruunnnn back .....

Who among us wasn't 100% sure that the Hail Mary at the end of the game was going to end in a touchdown for Northwestern? When you've been a fan of MN sports for as long as some of us ... it was pretty much a done deal.

I'm so happy that ONCE in a while Doom and Gloom decide to stay in their cages and let us be the ones celebrating for a change.

Wait!
Theres a flag down!
Get back to TCF everbody .............

We need to replay that Hail Mary

(admit it, you wouldn't be shocked if this was true) .........

The Good -

Leidner is actually looking like someone has introduced him to the concept of the forward pass.
Holy Cripes is Damien Wilson a good LB.
Cobb is a stud.
2-0 in the West, should be 4-0 going into last month.

The Bad -

3rd/4th down D. We would keep putting them in very stoppable downs, but couldn't get off the field.
Not being able to get 1 first down to run out the clock.
Kill better have a future D coordinator lined up, because I think this is the last year we're going to have Claeys. Someone's going to hire him after this year.

Good stuff
Yep
Claeys got a whiff of being the HC last year ... you know he wants more.
The guy can coach the hell out of it ....

Yeah, that loss isn't looking too bad right now. They are scary fast all over the field. They made us look like we were stuck in slo-mo, but they are doing the same thing to Baylor.

Sounds like he would only be interested in a D1 job. He has the co-head coach status here. Claeys has said in the past he would only consider a HC job if it was a good situation. I kind of got the impression he would rather stay a D1 DC with Kill than go down to D2 or D1A to get a HC job.

I could easily see him getting a job in the MAC.

Looks like I spoke a little too soon on the TCU-Baylor game.

He got his start in Kansas as a graduate asst and they just fired their coach. I wouldn't be surprised if he got a interview

There’s not much movement in the latest Big Ten Power Rankings

The biggest mover: Northwestern dropped to No. 9 following its loss at Minnesota.

POWER RANKINGS
1. Michigan State (5-1, 2-0). The Spartans have won 11 Big Ten games in a row—12 if you count the 2013 conference title game. And all but one have been by double figures. It’s MSU’s world—and everyone else is just living in it. Last week: 1 Up next: at Indiana
2. Ohio State (4-1, 1-0). The Buckeyes are coming on, as their offense is gaining mojo behind QB J.T. Barrett. This is a dangerous team with championship potential. Last week: 2 Up next: Rutgers
3. Nebraska (5-1, 1-1). The Cornhuskers will have had two weeks to prep for the Northwestern. Can’t wait to see the Husker offense battle the NU defense in what has been an exciting series the last three years. Last week: 3 Up next: at Northwestern
4. Iowa (5-1, 2-0). The Hawkeyes’ showed offensive ability unseen all season vs. Indiana’s shaky defense. Will Jake Rudock’s showing quell the quarterback debate? Last week: 5 Up next: at Maryland
5. Minnesota (5-1, 2-0). The Gophers are 2-0 in Big Ten play for just the third time since 1990. This team is on a roll behind a salty defense and balanced offense. Last week: 7 Up next: Purdue 6. Rutgers (5-1, 1-1). The Scarlet Knights have been the Big Ten’s biggest surprise. Can they keep it up as the schedule gets more difficult? We’ll find out this Saturday at white-hot Ohio State. Last week:
6 Up next: at Ohio State
7. Wisconsin (4-2, 1-1). Melvin Gordon and an underrated defense will keep the Badgers in every game. Can the quarterback play improve? It has to if the Badgers hope to win the West. Last week: 8 Up next: off; Maryland, Oct. 25
8. Maryland (4-2, 1-1). The Terps need to tighten their defense if they want to be an upper-division team in the East. The visit from Iowa will be a nice test. Last week: 9 Up next: Iowa
9. Northwestern (3-3, 2-1). The defense is legit, as is true freshman running back Justin Jackson. Still, the Northwestern offense needs more big-play ability and explosiveness. Last week: 4 Up next: Nebraska
10. Michigan (3-4, 1-2). The Wolverines got a much-needed win to halt a three-game losing streak. Let’s see if Michigan can build off of this. Last week: 13 Up next: off; at Michigan State, Oct. 25
11. Penn State (4-2, 1-2). The Nittany Lions have seen a 4-0 start melt into a 4-2 mark, as the offense continues to struggle. Can PSU get this figured out? Last week: 10 Up next: off; Ohio State, Oct. 25
12. Purdue (3-4, 1-2). The Boilermakers are vastly improved from last year, but work remains to be done along both lines before Purdue can take the proverbial next step. Last week: 12 Up next: at Minnesota
13. Indiana (3-3, 0-2). The loss of QB Nate Sudfeld crippled this offense at Iowa. He must return, as Tevin Coleman can’t do it all. How long will Sudfeld be out? Last week: 11 Up next: Michigan State
14. Illinois (3-4, 0-3). It’s seemingly going from bad to worse for the Illini, as the defense continues to struggle and the offense works with backup quarterbacks. Last week: 14 Up next: off; Minnesota, Oct. 25 - See more at: http://btn.com/2014/10/12/big-ten-power-rankings-how-far-did-michigan-move-up-this-week/#sthash.AW99sIih.dpuf

Not as scared as our friends from Nebraska, who I just know are freaking out about that giant boulder in their path to the Big 10 championship game called the Gophers.

I hadn't realized how deep my hatred for Notre Dame is.
Huge game this week at FSU.
I can't find one single redeeming quality in FSU that could make me pull for them.
And yet .... I still hope the Seminoles POUND them.

I always say that sports make us odd fans. I am a fan of any team that is playing the team(s) I can't stand - and sometimes that means cheering for some pretty unlikely contenders. It makes perfect sense at the time.
