Just checking some rankings. I found that SI has The Gophers ranked 24.

24

Minnesota Golden Gophers

last week: NR

record: 5-1

There are a lot of good runners in the Big Ten, so you’re excused if you haven’t been paying extra close attention to what David Cobb has been doing in Minneapolis. It’s about time you start. The senior has 819 yards on the year to go with four scores and already has three games of 180 yards or more.

Last game: Beat Northwestern, 24-17

Next game: Saturday vs. Purdue

In the AP Minnesota was at 30.

Heisman Power Rankings:

1. Prescott (Mississippi State)
2. Mariota (Oregon)
3. Cobb (Minnesota)
4. Gurley (Georgia)
5. Golson (Notre Dame)

My two favorite DI football schools (Minnesota and Mississippi State are represented)!

Gurley?

I guess he's expected to be back soon.

Based on the numbers Cobb should definitely be under consideration for the award. However, with Minnesota's obscurity among the media I am not holding out much hope for him winning. The only way that happens is if he keeps it up and the Gophers win the Big Ten Title.

We have to enjoy it while we have it. It could all be gone in a blink, so let's live it up while we can.

I hadn't realized how deep my hatred for Notre Dame is.
Huge game this week at FSU.
I can't find one single redeeming quality in FSU that could make me pull for them.
And yet .... I still hope the Seminoles POUND them.

I kind of hope God makes a big ball out ISIS members, stuffs them in a giant cannon and uses Kim Jong Un as the "flint". Lights that bitch and it falls right on the field incinerating both teams. It can happen.....

Just getting an invite to NYC would be a massive recruiting tool, I would think.

Higher probability of that than having Terry Ryan sign a bon-a-fide Ace in free agency.

Cobb on the Heisman:

“But winning that award is something I can do. I have always had confidence in myself. I’ve never lacked confidence in my athletic ability. To win the Heisman you must be on an excellent team, and I feel we will be one. Our defense is so improved — we’ve got guys flying all over the place now.

Fun fact: Cobb's HS football team hasn't won a game since he graduated.

Great stuff Matt

We need more dudes like that here.
And he's right ... we are becoming monsters on defense in some areas.
We have some athletes playing D-back now that were our linebackers in past years.

I see Seth Green chose Oregon to play at. The article said he's a Jr. QB. I can't remember ever hearing someone in football declaring that early. Usually we start hearing about them is the summer prior to their senior years as they go to camps on the college campus. He still has plenty of time to change his mind since he can't sign letter of intent until Feb of his senior year
