ORIGINAL: Dave E Eh. I'd take a Rose Bowl appearance even if we got blown out. Would beat the hell out of another Music City Bowl. Seriously, though, Wisconsin made three straight Rose Bowls with solid-not-spectacular recruiting classes. Yes, if you're an SEC West school, you're going to have to pull top ten classes every year, but it's overrated to a certain extent. I'll take good coaching over recruiting rankings. Coaching is important no doubt, but speed and size are important too. I'm not looking for Top 10, would be nice to eventually get there, but it's not realistic. We should start by getting on par with Wisconsin, and them aim for Mich St., Penn St. We were 19 places behind Wisc, 28 behind Penn St,. 30 behind Mich St., for the last class. It probably needs to start with an in-state blue chipper deciding to stay home for once and be a hero for his home state team. I think Kill is getting the program close to the spot where a blue-chipper should consider it. Once one does it, it will be easier to get the next one, and easier to get higher ranked kids from other states. Getting to good bowl games helps, winning them helps more. Being blown out, to me, would have a negative impact.
