Disaster. Cobb fumble scooped up for a TD by the Illini. 6 minutes remaining and Gophers need a TD or lose to the previously winless in Big ten team.

Every time we have an opportunity to be meaningful we pull defeat out of the jaws of victory.

Leidner is brutal.  He had about 8 seconds to pass, finally realized he should run and ran in to  the lineman's ass to make it 3rd and 15.  That sums him up as much as Anthony Bechts comment:

"the Gopher WR's have been wide open all day long but Leidner just can't make the pass"

Liedner had a pretty tough game. No question. Bad decisions, and when he made the right decision, bad accuracy.

Well, I said a few weeks ago, the Gopher's schedule is easy at the beginning and hard at the end, but it probably wouldn't be that cut and dried - They'd find a way to screw up one of the so-called easy games, and win one of the so-called tough games. That looks like how it could very well go down.

Just finished watching on DVR after spending the day on the golf course. Haven't read, comments yet, but just have to repeat what I was saying after the last game. We aren't that good.

Cobb's fumble was stupid, fighting for an extra yard on 3rd and long, well short of the first down. Need to protect the ball. Leidner is so inconsistent and makes some real bone headed decisions. He needs to be more accurate. The blown call on the lateral could have been a biggy, fortunately we scored on the next play so it turned out not to hurt, but ref's really need to let those close plays go, could've cost us 7. Big FG miss cost us too. Our D came out very flat and fell behind early, can't afford those big deficits. O was very flat early too, just didn't seem ready to play. We let O'Toole get way to many rushing yards.

Time to watch the WILD!

But you didn't fall for it. You stuck to your convictions that we'd mess it up. And we did.

Gophers actually aren't that good of a team. This game will not mean losing a meaningful bowl game, as they will lose most of their remaining games. We will soon forget about this game. Actually it's possible they could lose their last six games in a row.

By the way, who was a better Pro- Carl Eller or Bobby Bell? I guess they played in different positions in the NFL, although I believe (correct me if I'm wrong) they both played on the line for the Gophers.

I spoke with a player on the team that lost to Washington. He said that Warmath put them through such a tortuous workout before the game that they didn't have anything left in them for the Rose Bowl.

Some awesome stuff in the Mich/MSU game today
Banner flew overhead with KEEP BRADY HOKE PLEASE on it.
Michigan came out and put a stake in the ground at midfield ... MSU pounded them and ran it up with 20 seconds left.
D'Antoni said it was in response to the opening game bullshit. Love it. be honest. get pissed. Great stuff.

No doubt.  What happened to our offensive line?  As badly as we played, at times, when we needed it most, we couldn't control the LOS.

Completely agreed Jesser about our OL. They give over 250 yds. per game on the ground, and if you take out Cobb's long run we really struggled to gain ground. I think part of it is that we are far enough into the season where teams know our offense. They put 8-9 in the box, and they know even if we do pass it our passing game is so simple that their corners know what routes we are going to run. Major bummer yesterday.

Been watching iowa and Nebraska the last couple weeks.

Uh-oh

Is about all I'm gonna say.
I would consider "staying with" either team .... To be a huge surprise.
Those teams are pounding people in a way we don't.

Anyone got a line on this big Floyd showdown?

I will be surprised if we stay within 14. More like 21.

We SHOULD be able to compete with Iowa. I realize they are on the rise in the Big Ten, but our conference is just so overrated. They should be able to compete. Don't know if they actually will, but they should.

Going to this one on Saturday. I was all geeked up about it until they crapped the bed against Illinois.

For any chance at anything above a garbage bowl game, this is a must-win.

Have fun Chris
THIS weather reminds me of growing up in the Memorial Bowl.
Crisp Fall days. Should be a blast.
I hope the Gophers prove me wrong (and I was expecting some pissed off responses to my post earlier) .... but they've really lowered my hopes with that Illini debacle as well.

Load the box and stop that big white boy RB they have.  If he runs all over us again, no chance.
