I find it funny how long it took for the Gophers to get a Jan 1 game that the 2 bowl games that used to be the last 2 on the 1st, Orange and Fiesta Bowls are now Dec 31

We'll take the Jan. 1 bowl game any 'ole way we can get it.

2015, from 1962? WOW.

Anyway, my wife and I are planning to be there. Got tix and parking pass this evening. Would love to connect with any of you who may also be going.

So sweet Mark!
Anyone who has supported this program should really think about trying to make it.
Its what we have asked for, for so long.
We have to start showing the rest of the country that we love our teams and support them, too.
HAS to help recruiting. Its one little thing we can do to help the program.
I'm gonna try to make it work, somehow.

My wife and I would both love to go down there for the game, but the notice is just too short for both of us to clear it with our employers.

The Kill comparisons seem off from what I have read. Kill is an intense in your face coach. He runs a battering ram offense. Riley is supposed to be more laid back and runs a pass oriented offense.

The comparisons have more to do with his ability to coach up his talent. He gets more from the 2 and 3 star players he's been able to recruit. A developer of talent that is widely recognized.
Personality wise he's like Tom Osborne.

January first bowl game doesn't have the same meaning that it did in 1962 but still amazing to be in one for the first time in 53 years. Go Gophers. I am actually proud to be a fan of them.

Don't know if anyone has watched the video that was released of the Phillip Nelson / Isaac Kolstad / Trevor Shelley fight. A shameful display of drunkin stupidity on the part of all parties.

Kolstad (blood alcohol .16) clearly started the fight. Nelson (blood alcohol .12) is shown standing and talking to someone as Kolstad comes up from behind and punches him in the back of the head with enough force to knock both Nelson and the guy he was talking to face down to the ground. Nelson was treated for a concussion after the incident. Kolsatd turns to walk away across the street and Shelley comes out of no where and cold cocks Kolstad. This part is actually queasy to watch. Kolstad is out before he hits the ground and man does he hit the ground. His head hit the pavement hard with nothing to slow the fall. Nelson gets up and runs a across the street and kicks at Kolstad's head. He is being restrained as he is doing to, so it is debatable how well he connected. Personally I think the damage was already done.

I'm sure none of us are torn apart by the news that Wisconsin is once again in a rush to hire a new coach. It would certainly be justice if they suffered through about a decade of "meh" while the Gophers rise to the top. Go Gophers! Sit down Badgers.

Would be fitting if they stole Kill from us. That's what I expect.

I can't see Jerry leaving for Madison, given the support he's had and is still generating by the admin. here. I just ponied up myself--quite generously I might add--for the new football training facility. I had not given the U of M a penny during most of my post-U life, but this guy has me believing that we're going places here. Bolting for Madison would be the worst possible karma for him. He's smarter than that!

Agree.  Kill isn't going anywhere.  Claeys on the other hand.......Won't be Sconny, mind you.  But him leaving wouldn't surprise me one bit.
