Wow, TC's with an audition about being a HC and it's an F-. We just "beat" the national celebrity and our head coach had no idea what to do in the end.

There was a question about whether or not to bring back this staff. That should, pretty much, wrap that question up with a pretty little bow.

Beat me to it.

Just an embarrassing ending. Zero reason to call a pass.

All the time they wasted at the end of that game. Unreal.

I disagree, there was reason to call a pass. Because if it fails the clock stops. Where they blew it was wasting 10 seconds or more shifting around before the ball was even snapped.

They could have ran 3 plays. First one you just snap it quick, if a guy is wide open throw it, if not throw it away. then you have two shots at a sneak or other running plays by using your timeout in between.

Yeah, no way I can blame a WR who gives his all and falls a 1/2 yard short. There was 19 seconds and a TO. No way that's on him, IMO. The loss was tough to take but that absolute bush league coaching at the end sealed it for me.

The last few seconds of that game sure didn't help Claeys' case for getting the head coach job.

I'm sure it comes as a complete shock to both of you that Sid disagrees with you. He says Claeys and staff proved that they deserve to be kept with that game.

He probably still thinks the TD counted and we won the game.

One of the worst nut punches of all time.
And for those of us who follow this program, that's saying something.
Horrific game management. Horrific.

Yep. Despite what any coaches claim, there can literally be no way they knew the clock would start as soon as the call was overturned and the ball was placed. It was a complete oversight.

I admit it even caught me by surprise too. But I'm not being paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to not overlook such stuff.

They could have ran the sneak first and called a TO or called a TO before the clock started....many options better than what they picked....should have been able to run 3 plays with 19 seconds left.

I literally SHRIEKED in the bar when I saw them shift into the gun.
I SHRIEKED.

only morons would not get three plays off in 19 seconds, with a timeout remaining.
It's simply unfathomable.
And claeys playing big old fat tough guy, of course ..... Like we fans don't know shit.
You were the embarassing one, big boy.

I never understood bunching up the goal line with 3 TE......I would have spread out the TE/WR combo and put Leidner in the shotgun...they have to defend the pass too and call a QB run.

I didn't mind so much the shotgun. As I said in another post, a pass on first down, or at least a run/pass option is fine. Either Liedner runs it in, throws a TD, or throws it away. And if he throws it away, it should have taken at most 6 seconds. You still have time for two more plays, using your time out.

But they took an agonizing 17 seconds on the first play. That was the mistake, all the shifting around. Just line up and snap it.

Sid is like 90 years old. They showed him up in the press box and said he had been covering the Gophers for like 70 years.

What a fossill

I don't think he knew that in college football the clock starts after the ref sets the football and you know, winds his arm.

I don't want any of em'. Limegrover made the whole situation worse by calling that idiotic formation with only 19 seconds to go and the clock running.

Gonna be a LONNNNNG night folks. We won the coin toss and elected to take it because "we thought we could run on them". First series:

1. run for a negative 1
2. ML runs for about 2
3. Leidner throws a "ML type pass" to a wide open WR

Punt.
