ORIGINAL: Corleone I know it's Souhan, but he absolutely nails this one: http://www.startribune.com/gophers-continue-to-lose-vs-toughest-opponent-inept-administration/338580791/ Yeah, when Souhan sticks to Captain Obvious material, he comes off as much smarter. I realize that anyone with any semblance of a "sports IQ" has realized this for years, but based upon the number of lap dogs commenting on that article defending the U - it apparently still needs to be shouted from the rooftops. It begs the question of why any of us still care. Does anyone truly believe that this school will ever win a meaningful championship of any kind? At this point, I'd settle for just a B1G title someday. The last excuse is gone as far as I'm concerned. They broke ground on the athletic village this week. This should put the facilities on par with anyone in the nation. But you're right, there is SO much set-in-their-ways losing attitude of so many in this state it's always an uphill battle. I guarantee you if you strike up a conversation with a random person about new athletic facilities there's a good chance you'll hear "What do they need all that fancy stuff for? They should be able to practice anywhere!". Showing a complete lack of understand of how collegiate athletics works. An impressionable 17-18 year old kid visits Michigan, Nebraska, Ohio State and sees Athletic Taj Mahals and is told this state of the art wonder will be his home away from home for 4 years and his every need will be catered to. Then he visits Minnesota where he's told "What do you need all that fancy stuff for? You should be able to practice anywhere!" Which school is he going to pick?
