Weber 5 of 9 for 74 yds and 2 picks against the pathetic Boilermakers. To echo Jeff; Weber is killing this offense. It's time to start the Marquis Gray era.

Completely agree Tim and Jeff.  Usually it's a good thing to have a QB with 2 years experience, but Weber is holding us back.  If you only have enough confidence to let your QB throw 9 times in a game, put someone else in!!  Put Gray in and play the spread and make the opponent defend the whole field with our speedy receivers.

I'll be interested to see who gets the bulk of the carries the rest of the season.  IMO, Whaley is the best of the crew by far.  More physical, more decisive, and seems faster than Bennett and Eskridge.

It's gonna be tough sledding the next two weeks if we get nothing from the passing game, @PSU and @OSU.

I don't think Brewster doesn't trust Weber passin, he just wants to get the running game going. He'll need both forms if he expects to beat Penn St

I have to agree that at least Weber hasn't progressed.  You expect some mistakes from a young player, but Weber is not that anymore.  I wonder though....he spent a couple years running the spread, and is now in a more pro style offense.  Maybe it takes some time to adjust....or worse....many don't make that transistion at all. (at least from college to the NFL).  It isn't a lack of talent, I believe he has all the tools.

That said, I'm not sure the overall results would be better with a true freshman running the offense.  Even with the talents of a M. Gray.  I think some of problems with the offense is just the growing pains from changing systems.  Maybe it's time for the Brooks Michael, Ed Olson era.

I like watching the spread offense, but it made a lot of sense to change to more of a power running game.  I think Brew make a good (but maybe late) decision there.  We are only half way through the season and look at the weather this year.

Going to have to win the remaining three home games (Mich St, Illinois, So Dak St) to get our usual invite to the Craptacular Bowl.  Zero, zilch, nada, zip chance of winning @ Penn St, Ohio St or Iowa.

Didn't they recruit Gray as a QB that could run the spread?

I saw something at the bottom of the screen about a recruit from Texas announcing that he will be Minnesota Gopher on ESPN.  It looks like Brewster continues to be a better recruiter than football coach.

Yep, that was wide receiver Chris Hawkins.  He also held offers from: Arizona, Arizona State, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Houston, Kansas, Kansas State, Kentucky, Nebraska, TCU, Tulsa, and Utah.  Hawkins is recruit #21 for the Gophers.  This is huge class so far, littered with 3 star players.  Look for at least a half dozen more before it's all said and done.

During the week, I saw actually 3 players that have given their verbals to Minn, one from Totino Grace and another a C whom I can't remember where his is from

I'm just registering my distaste for the uniform decisions someone is making. The all white today is just barely an improvement over the all mustard yellow they started the season with. Whoever is making these decisions needs to get a hobby.

Purdue .... unreal.
HOW does that happen?
Sorry, Lynn, I haven't found a Gopher uni I don't like yet.
The gold reminds me of the late '70s
I think the whites are classy as well.
Some GREAT games today ... Neb/TT, USC/ND, Gophs/PSU (we usually at least hang in there against them, even tho they are better every year)

2nd drive ... 3 plays, 9 yds
3rd drive .... 6 plays, 24 yds
4th drive ... 3 plays, 5 yds
5th drive .... 3 plays, 9 yds.

Pathetic.

PSU figuring it out ... tough to run on us, but you can throw with little or no resistance.

2 first downs and 39 total yards in the FIRST HALF of football.

The defense, with its last dying breath, has the right to kick the crap out of the offense in the locker room at half time.
Spent the entire half on the field and held up well.
The offense sucked. And thats being nice.

Is Brewster the only person on this planet that sees some potential in Weber? The kid is brutal. You landed your big QB stud recruit, now play him!!

Our offense was horrible along with our tackling.

Still not sure how that was a TD...

Under Wacker, we could throw the ball.

Under Mason, we could run the ball.

Under Brewster, we have an all-world WR that can sometimes bail out our QB.

Brewster has to go away. Actually, a better thought is to demote him to head of recruiting and bring a real coach in.

At this point, what do they have to lose trying the kid?
