ORIGINAL: bstinger If PJ were to sign a contract and break it right away he would lose his credibility. That is worth a lot to him, I don't see him doing it. This essentially takes him off the market for two years. At that point they will be negotiating another extension anyway. And you're right, it makes absolutely no sense that Fleck would go through the process of signing a big new contract if he planned to jump after the season. If he tries to go after next year, the $10 million buy out comes into play. Regardless of what some think, that is a big chunk of change for a college football power to shell out on top of what would likely be a $50 - $60 million contract. That all of course assumes that one of the big powers is looking for a coach after next year and designated Fleck as their guy. Ohio State, Auburn, Alabama and LSU obviously won't be looking. USC and Florida State will have filled their vacancies this year. That's about how I see it. This guarantees he'll be here a minimum 2 more years. He wouldn't go through all these motions and spout everything he did if that weren't the case. Anything after that, there are too many variable to even predict. And that's true of any coach. He will likely be here longer but who knows? Why aren't their tampering rules with college coaches under contract?
