Dammit, we have to get on one of those balls when they're on the ground.

Way underthrown or it's 6, but still a nice completion downfield to Bateman.

Is there anyone on the bench who can run/tackle?

I'd give Ibrahim the rest of the night off. No sense getting him hurt here.

I believe we only have one O-lineman playing at his regular position.

Lots and lots of work to be done on defense and special teams. They were way overmatched by Michigan in every way.

Very soft up front on defense. It's a bad matchup for the first game of the season. The Gophers will be fine against teams that aren't as talented on the offensive line. Michigan's o-line completely dominated the Gophers up front. The rest of the matchups were pretty even.

I see Minnesota going 5-3 or 6-2. They won't beat Wisconsin with that defensive line. The rest of the games are winnable. Iowa is a toss-up.

A lot of weird aspects to the game. Though matchup. A first game of the season is usually like a preseason game against a cupcake. But honestly with the way they played and the with the key elements they had missing, they probably would have just squeaked by a cupcake 28-24 at best.

The rest of the schedule gets easier. Maryland just got thrashed by Northwestern 43-3

Maybe they get back to all linemen in the right spots.

Maybe they get back to all the kickers they need.

They're going to have to get used to the target on the back. Maybe.

Expectations are higher.

The first game rings of the NW "glory" years, where they'd have a good year or 2 then back to oblivion.

I know, too early.

The D put up zero resistance. That's an extremely bad sign.

Bateman was pretty much a possession receiver. Really?

There was no rhythm on offense. taking almost the entire time to switch plays a couple times, and a lot of that for squat. Didn't care for the pace at all.

The punter thing just floors me
Give me a half hour and I could round up a kid enrolled at the U that could punt a ball for you
Then, you tell everyone you don't have a punter. and then act all surprised when they sniff out your fake punt attempt?
Harbaugh probably thought he was a genius figuring that one out
Terrible timing, terrible prep for a situation that you knew might kill you in a very big game
Everyone keeps saying, first game, yadda yadda …. CFB is a different animal
You can't hide from big losses, no matter when they happen, its not a 16 game schedule

Lets face it
We beat them here, in 1977
Seriously. Let that sink in awhile. 1977.
Until we stop having those embarrassing stains on our records, we need to stop thinking we are any good.
It doesn't condemn the kids we have now who weren't born then, I get it, but it describes the programs.

That's what I find difficult to believe

Of the available guys on the roster, that's the best you could do?

Not even someone to rugby style line drive one 30 yards down the field

Pretty sad for a D 1 program. Extremely poorly planned out and dealt with

Took too many attempts for it to sink in running wide was not going to work on Michigan. Then just Morgan back there in the collapsing pocket to get hammered.

In all, not much difference between the effective coaching of the Vikings and Gophers. Adjustments are a mystery to both.

Its happened at the U many times in my life
Shouldn't. Ever
Hell, hang around a park in the Fall and watch kids playing 5 on 5 and you'll find one
You look like a shitshow when you enter a game knowing you don't have a very important position filled.
Injuries, emergencies, whatever.
