I certainly don't get the "Pitt should have beaten them by more" sentiment at all.

You are either first, or you're last!

Seriously, does anyone care that Joe Montana barely beat a middling Bengals team in 88 with a last minute TD pass?  SF SHOULD have killed them but barely won.  Sam Wyche did a great job almost winning when Boomer was playing with a bad arm.  So what?

The Steelers are champs and I am happy for Tomlin - wish he was here

Literally

I always wonder how that story about Montana looking up and seeing John Candy in the stand would have played out if they'd come up short on that drive.

Too funny

Steve Young would have been the starter in 89!

That 88 team was real tight in the Super Bowl - probably a result of their shocking loss in 87 to AC and Company.

The 89 team, however, was the one that was arguably the most dominant ever.  Getting the monkey off their back was huge and that allowed them to play loose the next year.  I think their playoff run was 41-14, 30-0, and 55-10.  With Montana at the top of his game, I would bet the ranch on them over the 85 Bears or 92-93 Cowboys.

It was a good Super Bowl because two good teams played in it.
The Cards won't go away, they have some stars and some depth.
Lots of athletes. Whisenhunt got more out of the club than was expected.
They had a very, very good coaching staff.
Pittsburgh was slightly better. Tomlin has a great handle on things.
Enjoyed his talk on how "that team" is done. In today's NFL, he stressed how teams do not stay the same.
He won't allow any talk of "repeating" or "defending". He said he will approach it as a totally new team.
There is starting to be a very good young group of coaches in this league with new ideas and new emotion, and new philosophies. I sure wish we had one.

The funny thing is, we're pining for him and the Steeler fans that I know don't particularly like him.  They think it's all because of LeBaue.

The Cards future prospects are not much better than our's due to Warner's apparent wish to retire.

If he steps down their QB situation is as bad as our's.

Their HC and OC are light year's better but our defense is much better.

The Cards will not be there for years unless they get a new franchise QB soon.

Really?

Well LeBeu's defense got smoked in the 4th quarter so they need to stop drinking so much beer.

Do they want to trade?

I will get right on I-76, I can see it from my office, and pick up Tomlin in 3.5 hours.  About 14 hours later we will be at Winter Park.

I can pick up Bard and drop him on the way home.  Of course I will have to go to U-Haul and rent a trailer one way for him to ride on the trip east because he is not riding in the Charger!

Seriously, Big Ben hated Whisenhunt and had a terrible relationship with him.  They were 8-8 that last year.

He loves Tomlin and certainly has performed like it.  I think those Steeler fans have sour grapes because Whisenhunt was passed over.

too bad

They got a championship coach.

I do have a hemi with 425HP!

Cleavon Little was awesome.  Too bad he died so young.

NFL TEAM FUTURE ODDS TO WIN SUPER BOWL XLIV

Odds as of: 2/2/09

RATED WAY TOO HIGH

New England Patriots 8/1
Dallas Cowboys 9/1
Green Bay Packers 25/1

RATED SLIGHTLY TOO LOW

Pittsburgh Steelers 10/1
Atlanta Falcons 25/1
Arizona Cardinals 30/1

Odds as of: 2/2/09

The Pats should NOT be the favorite, no way.  The Cowboys should not be in the Top 15!!!

I think the Vikings, Saints and Lions should pay off at at least 200/1. When you consider historical perspective. The Vikings haven't been to one since 1976 after being in 4 of the first 9. Then having not one it, combined with the Lions/Saints never sniffing one.....Those odds are not enough. Actually 100/1 for the Cheifs is intriguing.

25/1 our coach must really suck if we are that close according to Vegas.

McNabb Blames Defense for Loss to Cardinals
Wed Feb 4, 2009

The Philadelphia Inquirer reports in the latest example of not-so-fearless leadership, QB Donovan McNabb hinted - and not very subtly, either - that the Eagles' defense was to blame for the NFC championship loss in Arizona. McNabb was on WIP-AM (610) recently when he was asked why the Birds could not score another touchdown after the Cardinals took a 32-25 lead. "We were up, 25-24," McNabb said. Then, in case people missed it the first time, he repeated it for good measure. "We were up, 25-24. [The Cardinals] drove down 72 yards by running the ball - probably, what, eight times? And it reminded me so much of [the NFC championship game in] St. Louis where, coming back in that second half, they ran the ball nine times with RB Marshall Faulk to keep our offense off the field. Because they were terrified of us going back out and scoring more points." What an interesting, selective memory he has. It's true that McNabb helped put the Eagles ahead late in the game against Arizona. And it's true the defense had a terrible day. But it's also true that the game wasn't over. Not by any stretch. After the Cardinals went up, 32-25, nearly three minutes remained on the clock. That's almost 5 percent of the game. (In a shocking development, the Eagles even had a time-out remaining.)

What a loser.... JUST SAY NO TO THIS DIPSHIT.

The Steelers managed to drive the field and score the SB winning TD in less time against the same defense...WTF is McNabb's excuse...  He just took a big step down on my wish list.  Don't go throwing your team under the bus...you are just as responsible for not winning.
