Todd Haley will take the job as the new coach of the Kansas City Chiefs, ESPN senior NFL analyst Chris Mortensen reported Friday morning. An official announcement was expected from the team later in the day.

Haley, the offensive coordinator for the NFC champion Arizona Cardinals, had been seen as a favorite for the job for weeks. FOXSports.com and the Kansas City Star reported Thursday evening that the Chiefs, seeking a replacement for the fired Herm Edwards, had offered Haley the job.
Haley and new Chiefs general manager Scott Pioli worked together with the New York Jets between 1997 and 1999, with Pioli as director of pro personnel and Haley as an assistant coach.
Pioli, who left a front-office position with the Patriots to take over as Chiefs GM last month, fired Edwards on Jan. 23.
Haley was scheduled to arrive in Honolulu for the Pro Bowl Thursday as a guest of Cardinals wideout Larry Fitzgerald, but canceled at the last moment because of the Kansas City job, according to FOXSports.com.

Don't they qualify for the Rooney Waiver since their last head coach was a minority?

No. They tried to get Frazer in for that. Also Seattle avoided it by naming Mora Jr as assistant HC and next in line, but they wouldn't allow the Rams to keep Haslett that way

1) Favre stays retired and we don't hear another peep from him again (sure seems unlikely

I can only imagine your worst nightmare Sammy. A guy with a hockey mask chases you around with an ax or sickle or something and then when you finally come face to face with him he takes off his hockey mask and it's Brett Favre wearing a Viking helmet!!!

NFL.com's Adam Schefter reports retired QB Brett Favre is done with football for good. “They've asked if this is the real deal, and it is, believe me,” Favre said Wednesday during a conference call with reporters. “It's been a wonderful career. It's time to leave.” What made it time was the biceps tendon injury that Favre suffered last season. Were it not for the injury, Favre might be willing to return. But the injury cemented Favre's decision. “It progressively got worse throughout the year,” Favre said. “I'm thankful and blessed I withstood so much for so long. It was only a matter of time before something broke down.” Something did. And now the quarterback who has started an NFL-record 269 straight games will not start anymore.

If Favre is broken then a number of things have happened in the last year to keep Favre off this team Sammy.

I think you should consider yourself lucky. I know he wanted it to play out differently.

I hope it's over and we never have to talk about it again.

Considering the limited options and the fact that we ARE rolling out the same offense you hate I'm not sure why you can't get behind McNabb.

Ah, the Minnsota Vikings... where all pro player go to see if they can sacrifice the prime years of their careers for a QB that should be sitting and watching. All because they're willing to forgoe their own wants and needs so that an underdog can make it to decent in 6 short years.

To be clear, I'm not calling for Favre. I have no problem with McNabb, but they won't get him.

Do you not want any free agents from any teams, or do the Iggles fit into the Packer/Bear category?

Is that brand new or was Cris Carter signing bothersome to you?

If it's new because you think their offense is boring, wierd that success bores you.

Only one team can win it all. They've been right there competing for a title for quite some time.

I hate Dallas but I'd have no problem adding their talent to my team.

I guess since our offense is boring and will stay boring (sans Peterson) I could live with McNabb boring me to death.

Nothing against Packers or Bears players, just the face players like Favre, Girl-Lacker, etc.

The Eagles offense sucks shit and they are boring. Really boring. Switch the whole team except Peterson and NOTHING would change at all.

Dude, why is getting McNabb selling your soul, but getting Jared Allen not?

I'm just asking, which are the free agents that are acceptable to get, and which aren't, and what standard are you applying here? Do you feel the same way about Jared Allen, a Chief, for instance? Or Bernard Berrian, a Bear? Do you not root for any Viking unless they were drafted and brought up through the "sytem"?

Honestly, I dislike Chilly's affection for bad Eagle players as much as anyone.
