Sanchez Apologizes for Eating Hot Dog on Sidelines
Mon Oct 26, 2009

The New York Post reports Jets rookie QB Mark Sanchez sounded like a scolded teenager after yesterday's 38-0 victory over the Raiders when asked about the hot dog he was seen eating on the sideline late in the fourth quarter. "I've been getting a little heat for that," Sanchez, who moments before his press conference had been pulled aside by a team official for a quick chat, said. "I want to apologize for doing that. I wasn't feeling very good and couldn't eat much before the game. I felt a little queasy and toward the end of the game I probably should have eaten one of those [energy] bars or something. But somebody offered [the hot dog] up, and I grabbed it. I tried to be discreet about it, but obviously not discreet enough. I shouldn't do that, and it won't happen again."

Chiefs | L. Johnson takes shot at Haley

Mon, 26 Oct 2009 08:01:49 -0700
Kansas City Chiefs RB Larry Johnson criticized head coach Todd Haley via his Twitter account for not having playing experience and compared Haley to his father, who is a defensive line coach at Penn State. "My father played for the coach from 'Rememeber the Titans'. Our coach played golf. My father played for the Redskins briefly. Our coach. Nuthn," Johnson Tweeted.

and, from Rotoworld.com-

JaMarcus Russell refused to accept responsibility for his part in the Raiders' embarrassing 38-0 thrashing at the hand of the Jets.  "I don't think it's me personally, I really don't," Russell said. "Do you?" Uh, yes, JaMarcus. We do. The rest of the Raiders players issued mea culpas, but Russell continues to deflect blame despite his wretched play.

It's just funny in that he was so relaxed he decided to have a picnic on the sideline. Pretty funny to me, but I march to a different drummer than most.

It would be like a team beating you 35-0 and their offensive players are playing lawn darts while their defense is on the field.

It's weird.  I'm with you but the media seemed to press him for an apology.  Apology for what??

I'm waiting for a player to eat cheese doodles on the sideline and go back in the game with orange fingers.

Hell, Berger made the probowl because Madden couldn't stop talking about his snickers bar.  That was probably jealousy though.

Now I just have this picture in my head of Madden in a Snickers commercial with the "Me hungry" role.

Those kind of stories (Berger eating the snickers), can be stories that others around the country find amusing, and can lead to increased likeability of the team.

I think that MIGHT be important to winning the SB; perception.  A good perception of the team might lead to more favorable calls should the Vikes be in a close game in the playoffs.

Maybe fans should help come up with ways to help the team increase it's likeability.  I think the Peterson commercial helps, just like the John Randle chasing the chicken commercials years ago.

I think Favre helps in some ways, but in others he hurts.  Many people nationally have gotten sick of his waffling on retirement, the gushing by Madden (now Gruden), all the attention he gets, and they want to see somebody new or young be the next QB to win a SB.

OTOH, Favre strikes a chord with anyone that is getting up their in age that might have felt discriminated against, or was let go from their job for a younger worker.  Him being the final piece is also a story line, and going to a hated rival is unusual and interesting.

Have you seen the Patrick Ewing snickers video where he dunks on the kid? Funny shit. I think I posted it in the lounge a while back...

I know, my first thought was intimidating as heck, how relaxed this kid could be. I figured after a couple of rough weeks, Coach took into consideration how young Mark is and then he remembered you always serve snacks at daycare.

I think if he needs a little filler upper to get through the game, why not, he is a growing boy.

Love the Lawn Darts(Jarts) reference. That would be a hoot.

RK (LW) TEAM REC COMMENT 1 (1) Colts 6-0-0 Can the 49ers and Frank Gore provide more of a challenge than recent opponents? (Kuharsky)

2 (2) Saints 6-0-0 The Saints have shown they can win games several ways. That makes them tough to beat. (Sando)

3 (4) Broncos 6-0-0 Coming off a bye, the Broncos have had plenty of time to prepare for trip to Baltimore. (Kuharsky)

4 (3) Vikings 6-1-0 Brett Favre threw 51 passes against Pittsburgh. That's way too many attempts for a team with Adrian Peterson. (Chadiha)

5 (6) Patriots 5-2-0 The Titans and Bucs gave the Patriots two nice exhibition games before the bye week. (Clayton)

6 (9) Bengals 5-2-0 Why aren't people saying more about Cedric Benson's season? (Chadiha)

7 (8) Steelers 5-2-0 Four straight victories prove they are back on track. (Chadiha)

8 (5) Giants 5-2-0 The loss of safety Kenny Phillips had a much bigger effect on the Giants' secondary than many want to admit. (Clayton)

9 (19) Cowboys 4-2-0 DeMarcus Ware is the Cowboys' $78 million man, and Miles Austin is playing like a $78 million man. (Clayton)

10 (16) Cardinals 4-2-0 The victory over the Giants on Sunday gave Arizona a good chance to finish with a winning record on the road. (Sando)

Crazy game in Tennessee

M. Jones-Drew 8 carries, 177 yards, 22.1 yards per carry, 2 TDs, 80 yard long

C. Johnson 24 carries, 228 yards, 9.5 yards per carry, 2 TDs, 89 yard long

When was the last time 2 RBs combined for 400 yards rushing in one game?

Of the Eagles' 20 touchdown drives this season, just three have been longer than six plays. They had five TD drives yesterday. The longest one was four plays. Two were three plays, one was two plays and another was one play.

At the present, looks like Saints-Eagles-Cowboys are the main antagonists to be stomped in January.  That could change if the Giants or Cardinals get their acts together but right now neither is looking that good.

I expect the Cowboys to fall off in December again until they prove otherwise.

Romo almost always looks like a HoF QB early in the season before his annual collapse.
