Thought this would be a fun thread. This can really be anything related to the NFL. I'd like to see everyone's thoughts. 1. Fix FA - allow teams cap relief for signing their own veterans. 2. The clock - go back to stopping the clock on out of bounds and penalties, and in the last 5 minutes of the half stop the clock on 1st downs, like college. 3. Allow every play to be reviewable, and allow coaches 2 pass interference challenges per game.

1. No indoor stadiums allowed. 2. Commercials are only after the quarter ends 3. Take away the subjectable roughing the passer calls. The QB's are football players too.

First I will address your points then add a few of my own.
Thought this would be a fun thread. This can really be anything related to the NFL. I'd like to see everyone's thoughts. 1. Fix FA - allow teams cap relief for signing their own veterans. Love this idea. I think it would do wonders for teams keeping their stars.

2. The clock - go back to stopping the clock on out of bounds and penalties, and in the last 5 minutes of the half stop the clock on 1st downs, like college.
Clock should be stopped for out of bounds and penalties, but not for first downs. Though knowing the NFL and its love for high scoring games...I could see that happening in the not too distant future.

3. Allow every play to be reviewable, and allow coaches 2 pass interference challenges per game.
Well certainly make it so that plays that are "whistled dead" are reviewable. Now for my ideas. 1. Overtime rules should have each team getting the ball at least once in OT. 2. Punting rule, once the ball goes 40 yards...it is a free ball! 3. More Cheerleaders!!!
1. No indoor stadiums allowed. Not going to happen...sorry

2. Commercials are only after the quarter ends
How do you think the networks make their money? And then turn and give the NFL BILLIONS? Sorry. this isn't going to happen either.

3. Take away the subjectable roughing the passer calls. The QB's are football players too.
AMEN!!!!!!!! Oh, I just thought of one more. No more half screen graphics. If it can't be shown on a scrolling ticker on the bottom of the screen, it is taking up too much space.

Then, A. they should pipe in weather like we do Welcome to the Jungle B. Can they charge them 10 million a commercial so we don't have to see a 1 play to 4 commercial ratio? ___ I like your ideas. The scrolling this is so annoying. I like the time clock in the upper left. That's it.

Good ones so far * No "TV timeouts" * You don't lose a challenge if you are right! Mine: * Get rid of allowing QBs to ground the ball - you make millions, take a hit * Switch bad games out of MNF! * Get more athletic refs and train them properly on calling PI

The OT rule tops the list IMO. College OT is the best OT there is in sports. The NFL should adopt the same system. And I know this isn't a college thread, but college ball should adopt the NFL rules for PI's. If I was a college CB, I'd do a PI everytime I got beat. 15 yards sure beats the heck out of the 1 yard line. I would also allow for: Judgment calls on fumbles where the whistle is blown. (see Greenway this year) Judgment calls on facemasks. If someone GRAZES a helmet, with no real effect, that should NOT be a 15 yarder, or even 5 yarder/automatic 1st down. Oh, and some rules need to be changed on stiff-arming. Right now a defender can't touch a rb in the helmet, but a rb can maul his pursuers. That's out of whack IMO.

- * You don't lose a challenge if you are right! Has always been up there for me. Any questionable call should be reviewable. 1- If you can't get PI and holding right put away the whistles and let the guys play save for obvious muggings. 2 - Screw the forward progress rule. 3 - Don't allow a team to get away with a turnover because they had a procedural penalty.

1) Overtime. I like the college rule, but I think I'd rather see them play a full 10:00 minute OT. Get rid of sudden death. It's a fine concept for games like hockey where possession is not so rigidly defined as in football. I mean, sudden death in football would be like sudden death in baseball. It just doesn't make any sense to me. 2) Instant replay. EVERY call should be reviewable, for one thing. I understand that you have to give the officials some leeway, but if PI is called and there clearly was no contact, why on earth should it be left to the incorrect judgment? I also agree that you shouldn't lose a challenge when you win it. I understand that you want to keep the game moving, but fairness should be paramount. You should not be penalized for being correct. 3) End the blackout system. And I'm not just talking about the sellout rule. I'm also talking about the fact that if the local team is on one channel, the other channel can't broadcast a game. I would also put the need to have NFL Sunday Ticket available on cable. Basically, give the fans better ability to see the games they want to see.

1 - Allow teams to have logos from sponsors either on the field or on the jersey. Reduces the number of commercials needed. 2 - Reviews are done upstairs like in college ball 3 - Bring back the touchdown celebrations
Todd - really like that one too. I think the only time forward progress should apply is when there are multiple guys driving a guy back. But when a guy comes up and puts a stick on a WR, and sends him 3 yards back, mark him where he goes down. You penalize the defense for making a great play.
If you can't get PI and holding right put away the whistles and let the guys play save for obvious muggings.
Breaking the rules, and continuing past three: 4) Get rid of the automatic first down on the illegal contact rule. I hate that crap! Your D played a great 1st and 2nd down, putting the opponent into 3rd and (let's say) 17. They run a pass play, with the ball falling incomplete to the WR just short of the marker. However, on the other side of the field, the CB gets called for a bump seven yards past the line of scrimmage. First Down! How the heck is that fair? Make it 3rd and 12 and replay the freaking down! 5) Make the NFL Films archives available and searchable online. This is one of the greatest resources in all of sports. Let us at it!

Make an NFL Package for one team. Why do I pay for all the games when I want the Vikings? All games should be in HD Give the defensive captain a helmet radio.

* Set rookie contracts kind of like the NBA. * Remove two preseason games and add one regular season game. (alternate extra home game by NFC/AFC each year) * Get rid of the block in the back penalty, they don't call it for the Vikes anyway.

I really like the rookie contract suggestion. It's ridiculous what some of these guys make in comparison to the established stars.

Not so much, though it is a good idea.

Cut down the preseason. Inform Madden he's not related to a certain GB qb. No rules on cheerleader uniforms.

Rachel Watson specifically. :D
