I could do just about anything for kids. Hopefully my girl will cut me some slack.

Knowing you, you would probably take her Cujo and play the "I didn't know" card.

Gotta get the little one off to good start. Besides, Owen Wilson is scarier than a dog that looks like an old man eating ice cream.

But I'd have more respect for Sammy if that WAS his response.

Seriously, Owen Wilson in a kids dog movie.  That's pretty much my idea of hell.

A Kid's dog movie?

Marley and Me certainly wasn't...Kids would have been bored shitless.

K, sorry.

I purposely don't learn much about Owen Wilson movies.  He's just not funny at all, IMO.

Luke is the one with SOME talent, IMO.

My wife and I work at an animal shelter and that post was serious.  Most (not all) real dog people don't like actual people.  It's just the way they are wired.  They can't relate to humans but they are a perfect match for animals.

I think dog people like dog people. In general animal people like animal people. People who don't like dogs/animals, I don't understand those people. Don't trust 'em.

When Vick comes back does the stadium system play Who Let the Dogs Out, Atomic Dog, or My Dog Ran Away With My Wife?

http://www.prweb.com/releases/fighting_dogs_policy/Best_Friends_HSUS/prweb2123994.htm

February 19, 2009 -- The court-ordered destruction Monday of 145 dogs, including about 75 puppies, which were seized from a fighting dog breeding operation in December, was based on the faulty assumption that all dogs seized in dog-fighting related busts should arbitrarily be deemed dangerous and euthanized.

“We are disheartened and shocked that HSUS, a leader in the animal welfare community, would testify in court for the automatic destruction of puppies and dogs, who had not been given the opportunity to be evaluated as individuals, based on this policy. The Michael Vick dogs have proven how antiquated this approach is,” said Ledy VanKavage, an attorney with Best Friends Animal Society.

In 2006 HSUS advocated that all of the dogs from the Michael Vick dog fighting case be put down for the same reasons they used when recommending the killing of the Wilkes County pit bulls. In that case a federal court appointed a Special Master to oversee the evaluation of Vick’s dogs, all of which were adults. Many of the Vick dogs are now in adoptive homes, and at least two of the so-called “aggressive fighting dogs” are therapy dogs that visit hospitals to cheer up ailing patients.

If Vick was willing to use his name and speak against this, admitting that a lot of what they do makes these dogs aggressive and 1) dog fighting numbers went down and 2) they didn't waste all that life when they close down an operation, I would forgive him.

To bad he didn't pick a case where redemption was worthy.

What has Vick done to deserve Dungy's good word?

Name one thing.

Whatever Mallet, sometimes its alright to not comment on shit you don't like. We already know how you feel about this. Nobody has paid a higher price for any crime then Vick is paying for bankrolling a misguided family tradition.....

Dungy's good word comes from Dungy.  He's a pretty remarkable man, IMO.  He's a christian, and acts like one.  I don't agree with his religious beliefs but I have a lot of respect for him because he actually believes what he believes in.

That is the thing with forgiveness - true forgiveness means forgiving someone who does something terrible.

Vick has more than paid his debt to society.

Marvin Harrison SHOT TWO MEN and didn't serve one day in jail.

I would like to hear Vick reached out to Dungy.

I think the ball is in Vick's court to right these wrongs. Feels like he is being thrown a bone here that he doesn't deserve. JMO.

It's not up to you what a good man does.  You question Dungy?  Maybe Vick doesn't deserve it, but Dungy thought he did.  I'm pretty good with that.

After thinking about it, it seems to be on Dungy for being who he is.

I can understand wanting to salvage the hard cases.

If that is who you are.

Can't hurt to have some of him rub off on others.

Maybe Dungy has a purer heart than you, or I.  Maybe it has little to do with Vick.

Dungy is as clean as clean is.  I wonder how YOU would handle the hardships he has suffered?

I have no reason to question Dungy.

LAUGH - A - BULL!!!

You turn everything Vick did into that? Bankrolling a misguided family tradition.

Of course no one will call you on this because it is in vogue to let Vick off the hook and I'm the bad guy for still hating on him.

Everyone runs to point out things like this, or Leonard Little, or Ray Lewis.

What about Pete Rose?

The guy gambled, lied about it, then finally confessed.

Banned from MLB and the Hall of Fame for LIFE!

Just a hair less serious than Vick's bankrolling the "Vick family's misguided tradition".

People have done a lot worse things than Vick and had good people help them.

Jim Brown, and thousands of other people, work with young men who have not only killed dogs, but human beings. Dungy wishes to as well.

I don't think there is any reason to question Dungy, he is an honorable man, and reaching out to Vick doesn't make him any less so.

1. Pete Rose's "crime" goes directly to the integrity of the sport because he either threw games or managed them with respect to his gambling.

2. Rose negotiated his deal.  He willingly accepted a lifetime ban.  Vick never agreed to a lifetime ban nor was one given to him.

Not analogous at all

For what it's worth Todd, I agree that Vick did much worse than simply bankrolling a misguided family tradition. He trained dogs to fight and maim each other, which is bloodthirsty business. He personally killed dogs with his own hands, which shows that the man has no regard to the life of an animal.

That said, I believe that he has been punished for those crimes and although I don't want to see him in the NFL again, I certainly hope he leads a productive life.

He has two choices when he leaves prison. He can find some meaningful career and contribute to society, or he can return to the boys in the hood and find some ugly, bloody, lawless way to get through each day.

I think that the influence of a guy like Dungy makes it more likely for him to make the first choice than if he is influenced by the same shadowy figures that he has historically hooked up with.

I bet Vick is hooking up with Dungy to give himself a shot at a NFL return.

Whether he can throw well enough is another story.

Maybe some team takes a shot on him as the Wildcat QB

They never proved that Rose ever bet AGAINST his own team. He did admit to betting ON them to win. Could have been worse than betting your own money on your own team to win.

I gave up on baseball after the last player strike anyhow.
