They will Skilz, these also aren't your Daddy's Ducks.
After 2010 Oregon football made a point to stay as fast, but get bigger and stronger.
Oregon's front 4 is this.

Armstead 6'8 290lbs
Balducci 6'4" 310lbs
Buckner 6'7 290lbs
Washinton (olb) 6'3 250lbs

The first three will all play on Sundays, Armstead and Buckner are both projected First Rounders when they come out.

There will be no panic in Oregon on the field or on the staff.
13 of these guys were part of the 2010 BCS title team and made the trip as Redshirt Freshman.
The coaching stafff learned about preperation in 2010.
To them, it's just another game.

Helfrich and Frost are relatively young, but the average tenure of the rest of the coaching staff is something like 20 years.

Oregon will be ready.

I have no doubt, Murf. Should be a great game. I'd worry a bit about the Helfrich/Meyer matchup. Not a knock on Helfrich; I just think Meyer is in a class by himself (with Saban). But you guys have a ton of talent, and experienced talent. Should be a great game.

Really hard to focus on work this week.
Plans are coming in for friends that are going.
Win or lose this is likely my last time attending, but who knows.
I think the game will be close, if Oregon pulls away, as they often do, it will happen late.
As you said, a key for Oregon is usually playing with a lead.

This title game is a tough one to pick. Ifell asleep after OSU went down 21-6 so I missed most of that game.

The Ducks are just a completely different animal. Should be an outstanding contest.

Really good piece on the hilarity of the "SEC is dead" hype. Did you guys know that the 7 bowl wins by the SEC tied an all-time record for a conference? And LSU's game (again, hosed) would have made it 8:

D throughout the last few years I had zero problem admitting that the SEC was king.

But this year they got their asses handed to them. It happens my man, the PAC 8/10/12 has been down a lot...

I feel pretty confident the SEC will be strong as hell next year...It is what it is.

I guess I just don't put a lot of stock in 1-2 games. The best team doesn't always win, which is what makes sports great. Hell, baseball has 7-game series, but does anyone really believe the Giants and Royals were the best teams this year? I think very few would say that. But they won when they had to and deserve credit for it. Was UConn the best team in college basketball last year? No way. But they played extremely well when it mattered and won those 6 critical games in the tourney.

Similarly, I don't think one game means Alabama wasn't the best team. I think if they play the playoff 100 times Alabama probably comes out on top 50 of them and the rest are split with mainly Oregon/OSU. Of course, that still leaves a 50% chance the other way, as we saw.

In the NFL this year, I highly doubt the best team will win it all. It may happen, but a lot of times it doesn't. That's what makes sports great. It's not decided on paper. Doesn't diminish what those teams were. IMO.

And this in no way takes away from what these teams accomplish. Oregon or OSU will win it all and play the best when it matters most, in the championship. Just like those '87 and '91 Twins teams probably weren't the best teams in either of those years, but no one is ever taking those titles away from us.

It's not a subjective argument.
The team that beats the other team is better. That game, or that season.
Hence the old "they were better than us today' line.
They don't get to play 100 times.
I know you feel strongly about it but it's not the way it is.

I do believe the Giants were the best team in baseball this year.
Aside from the trophy that have to prove it, they had pitching, defense and they won it without long balls.
They were the best team.
As were your Twins on their championship years.

UConn ... they rose to the top.
When you are at the top, you are the best.

If you don't put stock into 1 or 2 games or 7 game series, then you can't put stock into championships.

No, I think you do put stock in championships. At the end of the day, that team won when it counted most. As I said, there's no taking that away.

But the "best" team doesn't always win is what I'm saying. Especially in sports with 1-game series. Football, March Madness, etc. More chance involved. Doesn't take anything away from the team that actually wins IMO. But it also means that you can't make wholesale judgments about the team that lost based on 1-2 games IMO.

The 1998 Vikings were absolutely better than that Falcons team, but they didn't win. I'm a massive Duke fan. Watch every minute of every game. And I love all 4 title teams, as well as the teams that lost. The best Duke team I ever saw never won a title. And if I was playing 1 game I'd put that team up against any of the others that did. A title or not doesn't effect how I feel about that team.

Luv ya bud, but you sound a lot like Skip Bayless trying to rationalize the beat down of the SEC this year, in which he said ALL the SEC teams gave up after they were out of the National Championship picture.....

No worries man. I'm not saying that at all. They lost fair and square. Ohio State, TCU, Georgia Tech and Wisconsin all should be proud of their wins (ND did not really win their game, sorry). And no one can take those away from them. But 1) the conference still did quite well overall. 2) Look at the matchups. Only 2-3 games didn't go the way they were "supposed to" go. 3) A few games don't determine everything. It's a problem with relying on "head to head" conference records or bowl games in general. No matter how they turn out.

My take above is more a commentary on sports in general than anything related to just this bowl season. I genuinely believe that. I LOVE sports. But I do believe that the best team doesn't always win. Which is great. That's what makes sports entertaining. Any team can beat any other team on any given day. Otherwise we could all just sit back and let Vegas determine all games and have no fun at all.

A.They have 14 teams in their conference, more than any other
B. There are more Bowl Games than ever.
C. Given A and B it would be hard not to at least tie that record.
D. Hardly anything to hang your hat on
E. At the very least admit you are an SEC Honk because no one on Talk Vikes could be convinced otherwise.

The last 4 years, sometimes I couldn't watch their games past the half due them running over teams. Some close ones this year that were fun and today's was the best. That freshman receiver had a game he will always remember.

YES from a High School about a mile from me. The kids around here are very aware of NDSU.
