IMO, she takes too much heat. Is she worse at her job than Buck is at his? Then compare salaries.

It's television, she's easy to look at and not a complete train wreck at her job.

I always liked her banter with Chip Kelly when he was at Oregon.
His answers rattled her, it was almost like she liked him.

I think it is time Mr. Rose just fades away. Let the history and stats talk. He's pissing on his own legacy.

Watched her intently the whole game
She's awesome, that she does that stuff for the game
Doesn't need to be out there with those knot heads, but she always is.
Great gal.

Hard to believe now but I was at a card show in the mid to late 80's. Rose and Jim Brown were signing. Huge lines for Rose, none for Jim Brown.

Whether you like him or not, he belongs in the baseball HOF. One of the best players ever. Very sad and he wasn't a roider.

I try real hard not to watch sports television, unless it is a live sporting event. Unfortunately, sometimes I get a whiff of halftime or post game, and it never fails to reinforce my decision to not watch this stuff.

I'm guessing ESPN would love to put together a panel of Pete Rose, Paul Hornung, OJ Simpson, Lance Armstrong, Barry Bonds, Alex Rodriguez and Lamar Odom. If they thought it would sell, they would do it. Ray Lewis might lose his place.

Good All Star Game. Awesome for Dozier. And Perk as well.

Trout is just ridiculous. Cool to see Harper even blown away by him and his speed, etc.
Living Legends; crazy to think about, but ARod and Bonds should have been joining Aaron and Mays, and would have if not for the steroid mess.
Pete Rose; still a HOF in his own mind, in all of life. What a classless jerk. Always. It's all about Pete.
Joe Buck; uggh
Fox broadcast as a whole; uggh
Jacob deGrom was just filthy; the Mets actually make a lot of sense for this team to trade with, though I'm leery of TR vs. Sandy in a negotiating process. But the Mets have little offense, a couple of catchers, and 3 young, cost controlled aces. It would take a lot to get one of deGrom/Matz (Harvey's not going anywhere with the media there), but I'd at least try.

Overall, Cincy did pretty well these few days. Better than I expected. Again, the state of baseball is in a great place.

So I missed all the pre-game stuff last night. Johnny Bench a greatest living player? Koufax is also a bit of a stretch IMO. Short career.

Mays is a slam dunk.

Can't quibble much with Aaron.

I put Frank Robinson, Rickey Henderson and Barry Bonds over Bench.

I can't remember who exactly was on the ballot. I think I may have had to write-in Frank Robinson. Rickey Henderson was definitely on the ballot. Can't believe Bench gets in over Rickey. I understand Bench gets big points for positional value. But did he have the impact of Rickey on a game?

I believe a half dozen pitchers could have been named before Koufax.

Agree there too, Matt. If not Bonds/ARod, then Rickey was still better than bench. I'd have had one of Gibson/Maddux/Randy/Pedro over Koufax (if not Clemens). But I understand they wanted to mix up eras probably. I still would have taken Gibson.

I think they tried to honor the old guy that won't be around much longer (Koufax) and a hometown guy (Bench). Had to be rigged.

Yep. Those guys are also in the public eye a lot more than any of the other non-"steroid"/recent candidates.

Why is Joe Buck so revered by Fox that he is their top lead announcer for almost every major sports broadcast? I don't get it. He isn't very good. In fact, he is really nauseating to listen to as he obviously has his favorites and does not do a good job of maintaining a neutral stance in his game broadcasts.

Henderson was one of the biggest roiders of his era. Nobody has thigh muscles like that without drug enhancement. Henderson's career is a sham given the fact he was a user.

Matt, there is nothing "rigged" about Johnny Bench. He was the best offensive catcher in baseball history and also one of the best defensive catchers ever. Nobody could steal on him and few even tried.

Then almost all players from around 1960 on are probably "shams". IMO.

Matt didn't say Bench isn't great; he is. He said he's not one of the best 4 living players on the planet. I agree.

This is where you and Dustin are so "in the dark" with respect to baseball of the 1950-1980 era. You didn't watch these players. They were far better players with a career that was truly a career rather than four or five good seasons. Today, if a player wins an MVP and a couple of batting titles, they are penciled in as Cooperstown worthy because of WAR or some other stupid statistic used to measure that player's value.

So does Shoeless Joe Jackson.

But it is clearly spelled out, you don't gamble on baseball while a baseball player or manager or you get banned for eternity.
As a player Rose deserves enshrinement. But he broke a big rule. Did a big no no. Everybody who plays professional baseball knows that rule.
He gambled. He cost himself that spot in the hall that his playing career shows he so richly deserves. HE DID IT TO HIMSELF.

No injustice has been done. He broke the rules he knew the consequences to, thought he would never have to suffer the consequences because he was this HOFer and Hit king.
