Wonder if people will finally give Joe Maddon his due ... once he secures that long-awaited title for the Cubbies.
Dude is a GREAT manager.

If the Cubbies win it all, Theo Epstein will secure his place in the HOF as an executive.

Not only would have have helped the Cubs break their extended stretch without a title. But he helped the Red Sox do the same.

Madden got the Rays to be a world series team.

He gets the Cubs there and they should give him a statue.

Meanwhile, the Twins could enshrine TR as a statue in the form of a big turd in front of TF for all the sheople to enjoy.

Uncalled for. TR is not the best GM, but he's a nice guy. At least he was nice to me when I met him.

... Scott Boras to @USAToday: “Their ownership and GM (Mike Rizzo) took care of him, and protected him, and now the Nationals are rewarded."

They shut him down the one season back from ligament replacement surgery. So Boras nods his head and ALLOWS them to re-sign him.

So I guess Matt Harvey is not long for the Mets.

Entirely called for. Any GM of any organization that has spent 25 years with the same organization and has nothing to show on their resume remotely resembling success is a big turd!

Cain had a heck of a night with 3 dingers. Man, only 5 so far for him.

And the Royales are 2 under .500

Pitching not as stout as last year.

Hicksy 2-3/double tonight. up to .170

When you have an offense, you can overcome 12 hits 6IP(O'Sullivan/journeyman craptastic)start

BoSox have a number of guys rapping the ball around the yard.

O'Sullivan.

Sheesh, can't the Twins trade them one of their "starters"??

Just rolllin.
No one gets on rolls like he can.
Reminds me of the Stieb ... Doc Holliday types, strong, overpowering, just starts humping it and you cant break his rhythm.

The way it should be.
Still say ... 90% of HS baseball teams ... the best hitter on the team is also the best pitcher.
Never understood the disconnect from that level up.

The talent in MLB is at an all-time low. There are hundreds of players in MLB who do not belong in a uniform. The Twins have at least 18.

Scherzer (4-2) had a chance to break the mark when James McCann stepped to the plate with two outs in the ninth inning. McCann, who whiffed his previous three times up, grounded to third base for the final out.

"It crossed my mind," said Scherzer, who did not issue a walk. "I was thinking of all the different scenarios in an 0-2 count that I could do to be able to get that last strikeout."

The ace right-hander, who pitched two no-hitters for Washington last season and struck out 17 in the second one, joined Roger Clemens (twice), Kerry Wood and Randy Johnson as the only big league pitchers to compile 20 strikeouts in nine innings.

"That's some serious company," Scherzer said. "It won't sink in right now, but it's an amazing accomplishment."

Johnson achieved his feat for Arizona during a 2001 game that went 11 innings. Tom Cheney holds the major league record with 21 strikeouts when he pitched all 16 innings for the Washington Senators against Baltimore in 1962.

Max Scherzer threw 96 strikes in his 20-K game tonight.

#MNTwins starters have thrown that many PITCHES just 15 times this year.

Absolutely. The top pitcher when not pitching probably plays shortstop......hits for average and power.....and can run. Probably the QB on the football team and a very good BB player as well.

Most of the time. The other 10% are these stud all-everything catchers who go to the majors and become superstars

In somewhat unsurprising news, Glen Perkins told Mackey & Judd that he was the worst hitter on his high school team.
