Anyone see this bad call from C.B. Bucknor yesterday?

What a clown.

I saw that. What the heck was he looking at?

GoGo show-boated and a ruckus ensued. And the stinkin' catcher that stopped him from crossing home didn't even get tossed.

McCann shoulda been tossed.  But I think it proves that the ump thought Gomez's showboating, while within the rules, was way over the line of proper baseball etiquette.

Now THAT'S showboating, Terry Ryan.  I still haven't seen good evidence of Sano's supposed showboating.  What I did see was hardly anything worse than a normal reaction to a HR - watch it for a couple seconds, and trot - big deal.

I'm sure Terry is disgusted.

And glad the Twins don't have such a talented, hot-dog of an outfielder on their team of good guy players.

Agree.  If anyone gets tossed there, it should be McCann.

I frankly wish there was more bat flipping in baseball.  It's awesome.  Don't like it?  Pitch better.

If a pitcher can fist pump after a big strike out,and yell and such...

what's wrong with a bat flip?

Double Standard

Totally agree....bring on the bat flips....brings in more fans....owners make more money....Twins are still the Twins for at least two more years, before they can start flipping bats, because they are good and they know it!

Agree.  It's a sport -- it's supposed to be fun.  I still don't understand the penalties for celebrating a touchdown -- talk about a sport taking itself way too seriously, as if celebrating a TD is going to precipitate the downfall of civilization.

Great tweet from Tom Ley of Deadspin, discussing how MLB players wouldn't last eight seconds in the NBA:

Like, imagine Brian McCann trying to keep cool while KG whispers in his ear about how hard he ****ed McCann's mother last night.

Absolutely.

The NFL became the NO FUN LEAGUE when they did that crap.
Players are pissed they allowed a TD? Then play better!

Players are pissy about a bat flip? Then pitch better, make better decisions about pitch selection.

Self-righteous BS.

Speaking of bat flips, there was a great video the other day of an amazing bat flip in the Korean league...on a long foul ball.  Hilarious.

I'd love to see a hitter get pissed after some reliever over-celebrates.

The hitter would be the bad guy. And that's crap.

Now this is insane.  What is with the fans of these two teams?  They make Raider and Eagle fans look dignified.

I'm watching the "Must C" on mlb.com of the whole GoGo thing.
"What is Gomez trying to prove?"
Reed Johnson a big man for running in and punching Gomez. Off the bench.

Johnson and McCann should definitely be suspended.  Gomez shouldn't but probably will be.

Braves are sure uptight about getting " show-boated"

Self-appointed baseball policeman Brian McCann was at it again last night. This time, the Braves catcher got very angry with Carlos Gomez for chirping before and after hitting a home run. The Brewers outfielder was still angry about getting plunked by Atlanta pitcher Paul Maholm three months ago, so he came to the plate looking for trouble and got it. As Gomez tried to round third and touch home, McCann blocked him off and triggered a brawl. Obviously, Gomez was out of line and acting like a buffoon (and apologized), but McCann had to take things to another level with his ridiculous behavior. This is the same McCann who got mad at Marlins pitcher Jose Fernandez earlier this month for admiring a home run for too many seconds, according to the Braves catcher. This is also the same Atlanta team that got mad at Bryce Harper in early August for, again, admiring a home run in a way the Braves found offensive.

The SI guy Tweeted "Looking forward to rooting against the Braves in postseason. Didn't know MLB put them in charge of how long players can watch their HRs."
last night. Says he got all kinds of ripped.

Twitter is the bully of the cyber-verse.

Fully agree McCann should be suspended. Make it hurt. Make it part of the post-season.

But MLB won't have the guts to do that.
