Status: offline 		Watching Denver vs Notre Dame while I wait for the Gophers game and very impressed with the speed of both teams. Both were in the frozen four, with Denver champs. Both returning most of their top players from last year. The addition of Notre Dame to the B10 should help bring up the level of play to the conference for sure.

Bemidji State 5, No. 5 Minnesota Duluth 2

The host Beavers scored three goals in less than four minutes during the third period to put away fifth-ranked Bulldogs.

BSU’s Gerry Fitzgerald recorded three points (two assists) as five different Beavers scored. Blake Young and Karson Kuhlman scored for the UMD.

Status: offline 		Huskies spot a bad Alaska team a 3*0 lead before scoring the next 6 goals for the win. SCSU actually outshot an opponent for once. I'm going to track this.

No. 6 St. Cloud State 6, Alaska 3

Sixth-ranked St. Cloud State pumped in five unanswered goals to upend the visiting Nanooks and spoil the Western Collegiate Hockey Association member’s hopes of a road win at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center.

Nick Poehling and Jimmy Schuldt each scored twice to park the rally, which began with Poehling’s tally with about five minutes left in the first. UAF took a 3-0 lead with 11:31 left in the opening frame thanks to a goal and assist for Ryker Lee and two assists by Steven Jandric. Jack Poehling and Robby Jackson completed the scoring for the Huskies.

Thanks for the heads-up. Awesome win!

They skated to a 0-0 draw last night.

BSU won the shootout, so sort of a sweep for the Beavers.

We are underrated as usual. With Bitzer between the pipes (unfortunately he is a Sr), we always have a chance.

Minnesota State sweeps 2nd ranked Boston U. That will do wonders for SCSU's RPI and Pairwise I think.

EDIT: I was right.
SCSU first in the nation pairwise at 1.003
Airforce #2 at .7795
Huge gap. The USCHO new rankings haven't been released yet. RPI sometimes varies from this but right now basically identical.
other ranked Minnesota schools Minnesota state 16, BSU 25, Minnesota 33, UMD 36.

Beavers get Screwed Ranking 22nd after a sweep of #9 ranked UMD.

The 2017-18 Bemidji State hockey season got off to an exciting start on Oct. 13-14 as the men swept Minnesota Duluth with a 5-2 victory at home in the first game and a shootout victory in the second game in Duluth after two overtimes. The women’s team opened with a pair of tough losses to the University of Minnesota – a 3-1 defeat in the first game on Oct. 13 and a 4-3 overtime battle on Oct. 14. The men will be at home the next two weekends, Oct. 20-21 against Air Force and Oct.27-28 against Ferris State. The women will play Wisconsin on the road Oct. 20-21 and then Minnesota Duluth at home on Oct. 27-28.

I guess it doesn't really matter, this early in the year especially.

If we keep beating good teams, it will work itself out in the Pairwise by the end of the season.

I didn't read that initial reply as some sort of back-handed compliment, but rather I took it as someone pointing out the the facts, and showing enthusiasm for their team. I think it's great that SCSU is ranked at/near the top. SCSU beating MSU-M is sort of expected. MSU-M sweeping Boston U is a shocking upset. If the fallout from that helps SCSU, great. It doesn't take anything away from the MSU-M performance.

BTW, I don't have any supporting evidence for this, but I heard that it was the first time (ever?) that Boston U has been swept in back-to-back games on their home ice by a unranked (at the time) non-conference opponent. Anyone know if that's true? Has Boston U been that dominant forever?

SCSU beating MSU Mankato is kind of to be expected, but we have lost to you more often than I like LOL. Mankato has been a thorn in the Huskies paw.

Status: offline 		Huskies spot the opponent two goals again. This time it was Boston College. Huskies score the next 5 to win 5-2 and in a rarity totally dominated the Shots on Goal 47-20. I wish they would start games better, but this just might be the best Huskies team ever.
If we dominate Boston College tonight we could pick up some first place votes as #1 ranked Denver tied unranked Lake Superior State last night. Denver actually took 66 shots but only scored 3 times in the tie.
