The only research I have is moving from VA. I thought taxes pretty high there but we had income tax too. When I moved here all I heard was the yocals saying "we aint gots to pay no state tax it's great".

Sounded good until I realized I'm paying double the property tax for a place I don't really want to live it. If I add the state tax from VA to the property it about equals just property here (and it rocked there).

http://comptroller.texas.gov/taxinfo/proptax/basics.html

Texas has no state property tax. The Legislature has authorized local governments to collect the tax. The state does not set tax rates, collect taxes or settle disputes between you and your local governments.

sounds like your local government is greedy... shocking!!

The Vikings added a second free agent to bolster the offensive line.

Offensive tackle Andre Smith agreed to a one-year deal on Thursday, he announced on social media. Following a free agent visit, which included dinner in downtown Minneapolis on Sunday and a tour of U.S. Bank Stadium on Monday, Smith left Minnesota without a deal. Three days later, he signed.

Smith is the latest move by the Vikings to repair the offensive line by creating competition this summer. He figures to compete at right tackle, where veteran Phil Loadholt took a pay cut this month after missing last season with a torn Achilles. Smith, 29, signed a one-year deal reportedly worth up to $4.5 million, with just $1 million guaranteed.

In less than two weeks, the Vikings have restructured Loadholt’s contract, re-signed guard Mike Harris and added guard Alex Boone, the big catch on a four-year, $26.8 million deal, and Smith in free agency to fix an offensive line that was porous for both quarterback Teddy Bridgewater and running back Adrian Peterson last season. General manager Rick Spielman has pivoted toward free agency to help the line after recent draft picks have failed to provide immediate help.

Smith was a five-star recruit out of a Birmingham, Ala. high school, becoming the sixth-overall pick in 2009 after serving as the Crimson Tide’s left tackle for three seasons. He was selected by the Cincinnati Bengals while Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer was defensive coordinator.

Smith (6-4, 325) started 73 games at right tackle in seven seasons for the Bengals.

He will be drafted by Cleveland where his career will disappear into an abyss.

CALEDONIA, Minn. — The Vikings are honoring Caledonia High School as their inaugural Minnesota Football Program of the Year.

The team has helped arrange a series of events this week in the small town in the southeast part of the state. As part of the award, a $10,000 check will be presented to the high school. Some of the money will be donated to specific programs in Caledonia designed to encourage youth engagement in the community.

Other highlights of the "town takeover" are a skills clinic led by Vikings youth football manager E.J. Henderson and a program at the high school with running back Matt Asiata and wide receivers Isaac Fruechte and Charles Johnson. Fruechte is a native of Caledonia.

ESPN’s Mike Tirico, the play-by-play voice of Monday Night Football, is leaving the network to join NBC, Sports Business Daily’s John Ourand reports.

Tirico, 49, has been with ESPN since 1991 and has called Monday night games for the network since 2006. He also calls NBA games and previously worked major golf tournaments.

Ourand reports that Sean McDonough is the leading candidate to take Tirico’s place on MNF, while Tirico will be the chief play-by-play man for NBC’s newly acquired five-game Thursday night NFL package. NBC also has golf broadcast rights, most notably the British Open, and owns the rights to the Olympics.
