I went to a school with 1500 students, any smaller and I would have played football cause they'd a needed me.
But we also needed Dead Head, , beer drinking, woman chasing Mullet wearing soccer players too.

Lucky dog
I had to run track or we wouldn't have had a team
Same with BB, FB, Class plays, etc.
Graduating class of 14
Ya, you heard me.

14?

Those Upper Classmen. were they even Boys?

Luckily, the four athletic kids in each class were farm boys
We went to most of our 9-man FB games with 10-12 healthy bodies.
Never came off the field in four years. Proud of that. ST, QB, LB. Long snapper. Back-up punter if needed.
Back-up anything if needed. It was a different world and I loved it
Wouldn't trade it for the world.
The guys I played with will carry me to the hole. We've already carried a couple.

The only thing I want people to remember about me 9as a FB fan) is that I hate playing-for-field-goals

And always will.

Sorry Scott, but the O-Line had no bearing on him throwing a -2 yard pass on 3rd and 14 on that one...

85 more carries and he'll break a hundred yards.

I think Bradofrd was embarrassed by that "highlight" package.

That was 3 straight MAN throws.

If Sam plays like he has the past 2 drives the rest of the year, there will no longer be any complaints from me.

And he ends up breaking AD's rookie debut record!

Vikings are on the clock.
Game starts at 6:10
Which means the first "dammit we suck, the season's over" post should show up at around, oh ... 6:45 or 6:50.
They usually come about exactly 30 minutes after the first "Bradford sucks" post.

The Bradford sucks started early, but didn't last long.
He was GOOD!

My observations:

New O-line looked pretty solid
Give Bradford time to throw and he is really good
Really liked what I saw of Cook except for the drops
Receivers were great
Defense was really good, except they played the deep zone a bit too soft on the NO TD
New Orleans looks like the same cheap shot defense with their new coordinator.

I officiated several 9 man games - good stuff!

Taking a deep breath like everyone else ...
But that was a fun start.
The OLine looked like a real unit.
Tempered by who they were facing.
Pretty shitty Saints squad, but holding that offense to basically 4 FGs was pretty damn good.
Its all about how much O we can get going this year.
Our D isn't smothering, but they are good enough to win most games, if the offense produces.

Agreed

AP is going to be a problem at N'orleans. RB by committee is not going to work.

Huge test vs the Steelers this week.

Good stuff Ed
I actually think AD will be moved or cut. Does not fit at all there, and won't, in probably 90% of the NFL.
This week will tell many things.
Completely different animal we face Sunday.
A team with hopes and history and plans. We better be ready to face an early push or it won't be pretty.
The Steelers will punch us in the mouth. Will be very interesting to see how we respond.
Interesting to hear Burk talk a long time in the post game about how he likes this Viking teams make-up.
Said he's spent time with the team and there is a solid base here. He used "lack of knotheads" a couple of times.
That's kind of always been his thing, and he likes what he sees internally with this team. We shall see.

Fun Game,
In the immortal words of Al Davis,
"Go verticle Joey"

That changed everything.

Good Barometer game this week,

Holy shit! I just took a gander at the Vikings forum. You'd swear that last night was the 41 - donut game, rather than a win.

He did manage a few long completions on 3rd and long last night. Sometimes you have to check down and the throw that's available.

Anyone see the "awkward sideline guy" during the second game last night?
He broke the internet this morning.
Stranggggggggggge dude.
It was supposed to be all about the first female running a booth, and Rex ruined that, too.
Love Beth Mowins and her work. She's awesome, imo.
Probably the only thing professional about the coverage there.
Watch the lowlights if you can .... the guy was incredibly in-over-his-head.

And his name is Sergio Dipp
Are we sure this is a legit thing?

Sorry, DL.
As much as you want him to.

When he plays like he did from the 2nd quarter on, he's great. If he can sustain that, I have no problems with him.

It was the weirdest thing. They showed his "hightlight" package where he was like 7/8 for 40 yards or something. It was aggressively ugly watching him step up into a totally clean pocket and choose the dump off time and again. Literally as soon as it finished playing, he had the 3 strike TD drive full of "man throws".

Its like he saw the video and got pissed and/or embarrassed at himself.

His problem has ALWAYS been between his ears. He has as much arm talent as anyone in the league. If he can figure out how to stay aggressive he can go from "journeyman" to "legit star".
