Personally, I'll be shocked if he flops. He's no Tebow.

Teddy will probably be pretty good too. I just think Manziel will be better.

ANd Mariotta will be that much better than both of them.

I'm not saying he'll flop, but the backlash I have read from the Manziel guys (not talking about you SMF) is puzzling to me. For the most part it's been just plain bitter. The JFF crowd is making it sound as if the Vikings passed on some slam dunk obvious choice, which Manziel was not. As David said, JFF as electrifying as he can be is a much higher risk pick.

It's still my heart felt, humble opinion that the Vikings came away with the best QB in this draft. I thought Cincinnati got an absolute steal when they got Dennard at #26. By comparison, getting Bridge at #32 is full out Brinks job.

Mariotta started out the year like a house on fire, but didn't quite sustain it. Physically he has the edge over Bridge. Bridge has a huge advantage in vision and football IQ. I think Mariotta was smart to go back for his junior year.

These things. Along with adequate arm strength make a very good QB.

So Zygi gets his Super Bowl. No surprise there when you realize it was effectively guaranteed with the stadium deal...as Ken Jeong might say, "queeed pro crow, muthafukkkaaa!"

But still....as a former season ticket holder squeezed out by the larceny of ticket costs, it kind of felt like seeing your ex-girlfriend hook up with some slimy old sugar daddy, lose 20 lbs, get botox and a boob job and then wind up on the red carpet at the Oscars.

Upside - maybe I can rent out my house for a week and go to the Bahamas.

Giants release Josh Freeman. Time to sign him to a 4-5 year deal.

I think the #Packers and Favre should retire No. 4 on #Festivus, following an airing of the grievances and fears of strength.

Sad news -- Sidney Rice retires due to concussions.

Pelissero reports he's making the obvious transition to the chicken wing and technology businesses.

I also see that Kluwe has put his lawsuit on hold. He must have felt the moral high ground crumbling beneath his feet.

According to Vikings conditioning coach and Penn State alumnus Tom Kanavy – who was interviewed as part of the investigation – Kluwe tore a hole in the back of his shorts and said he was one of Jerry Sandusky’s victims.

“I do apologize for it,” Kluwe said. “It was a joke that I thought would be about the content of Penn State itself, not the victims, but apparently it wasn’t taken that way, and I do apologize for that. My relationship with Tom Kanavy was one where we could joke around with each other. We did tell off-color jokes to each other. He would make fun of my long hair and make comments about that. I felt that was fine. He was not my direct supervisor.”

“Now, Mike Priefer was my direct supervisor,” Kluwe continued. “We had a relationship where – as I detailed in the Deadspin letter – I felt that some of the times the stuff he said was joking, and then some of the times the stuff he said was very much not joking. And the stuff he said where he wasn’t joking was the problem.”

Hmmm.

It's ok if I'm joking, but not if he's joking?

Both comments are out of line Priefer and Kluwe. That being said I make more than my own share of awful disgusting comments in private around people I am comfortable with, I think most people do. No way should these be brought up and have their context directed in a way to paint anybody involved in a bad light.

Kluwe is doing a terrible thing IMO. Taking very private conversations that were likely not somebody's hate filled beliefs but rather somebody's attempt at humor or effort to get a rise out of somebody and twisting them for personal gain or as a way to destroy somebody.

Frankly he is no better then the Human Resources pot stirring cry babies that every company has.

This is what I know:

If I made the comments Priefer made at work, I would be fired as soon as someone senior enough to can me found out about them.

I have no idea why the Vikings are still employing him. It's insane.

Kluwe's comments are also tasteless, but are seperate and apart from Priefer's -- and differ significantly in the fact that he was not in a supervisory position (and isn't with the team at all, for that matter).

You can't say, "well, he sad something bad too!" and get off the hook; that's not how it works. Preifer should be gone yesterday, and if "distractions" are an issue, the Vikings are continuing to make one by keeping him employed. How many questions is Zimmer going to get about this?

Absurd. You say that about blacks, you get fired. You say it about women, you get fired. You say it about Jews, you get fired. You say it about gays, you damn well should be fired. This isn't hard.

Man, the NFL makes it tough to be a fan. Two games for Ray Rice for beating his wife and dragging her around by her hair in public? And the media is wondering if that's too harsh?

Not to mention Tony Dungy's absurd justifications for his statement that he wouldn't draft Michael Sam, because he was a "distraction"? Cowardly, Tony. You wouldn't draft him because he's gay. At least have the courage of your convictions and say it out loud, rather than hiding behind the "distraction" sham.

Yeesh.

Kluwe may not have been in supervisory role, but cutting the ass out of your pants and making jokes about the victims of a serial pederast will also get you fired from any place of employment in the real world. That isn't limited to people in a supervisory role. The problem is that Preifer and Kluwe are in the NFL, not the real world. I certainly can't endorse bringing back Preifer, but Kluwe has forfeited the right to claim the moral high ground and express his righteous indignation. It seems to me he did plenty on his own to foster a hostile work environment.

I applauded him for his position and activism on behalf of gay marriage. There is no doubt in my mind he was on the right side of history. But this threat of a lawsuit is bullshit. It's time for him to accept the fact that he got cut because he sucked and move on.

Ridiculous. SHould have been half the season.

At least one outlet is on Goodell

Lenient penalty for Ray Rice troubling proof of where NFL's priorities lie

When it comes to running afoul of the law and NFL rules, 'tis worse -- far worse -- in the league's eyes to take some Adderall or smoke some marijuana than it is to, say, allegedly knock your fiancée out cold and then drag her unconscious body from a casino elevator.

Not defending Kluwe's behavior by any means. I'm just pissed that the Vikings seem to be pointing at Kluwe's behavior to justify a weak response on Priefer, when the guy should be gone no matter what stupid and/or offensive things Kluwe did.

It would be very interesting to Madel's report, which the Vikes did not release.

NFL's initial handling of this brings back bad memories of how UNL handled Lawrence Phillips

I believe the Vikings are pointing to Kluwe's behavior to damage him before any potential trial, not to justify their response. I think it's a warning shot across his bow. If he tries to bring this to trial, he will get dragged through the mud too.

I agree with you on 2 major fronts. 1) Preifer should have been fired. 2) The Vikings should release the entire, unvarnished report.

Andy Dalton deal; crazy. It's Joe Flacco II. I like both guys, but neither is "great" to me. It's kind of like the NBA; worst place to be is in the middle. That's where Cincy and Baltimore likely are now. You can't risk getting a guy as good as either guy, but you also would prefer a better guy. Gotta have a lot of things break right to win a Super Bowl.
