ORIGINAL: SoMnFan Hard Knocks is a much-criticized show, but I've always enjoyed it, and I've always learned some things from it. Zimmers aura and personality, when with the Bengals, stuck with me more than almost any character we have been introduced to. Dude was honest, intense, and driven. Not fake. No bullshit. They filmed many interactions he had with his "guys" during that training camp. He patted guys on the back, he cussed guys out, and he cut guys. And every one of those guys he dealt with, respected him. It was easy to see. He's a football guy who loves the game, and wants desperately to put his own stamp on something before he's done. This should be as good a place as any. Give him some rope, and let him build and mold what he thinks will work. Where we were headed before, sure as hell wasn't working. I'm always interested in that player/coach dynamic. Why it works. How it works. Some guys can be a hard ass and it works. Some guys are a hard ass and it does not work.
