Levi's will pay the 49ers $220,000,000 over 11 years to stick their name on the new 49er stadium.

That is game set and match for this entire debate. He will be cut at the end of the season. Nobody is going to do a trade with that contract and nobody is going to pay the Wilfs market value in naming rights for the new stadium with AP on the roster.

It is all about money, always is and always will be.

Agree to disagree. Time for the Vikings to set some semblance of a standard. I'll stop now; we're obviously not going to see eye to eye on this.

To think that not allowing a guy to finish his career with the team that drafted him is too big of a punishment for beating up a four year old kid...wow. Just wow.

Now it's beating up? A switch just stings, far cry from a beating.

It must be nice Dave that you are so perfect and never sinned.

Agreed, just call it "abrasions on scrotum". No need to be over the top.

I don't believe the scrotem part. At that age it's up tight and can't be touch hitting the butt.

You are goddamned right it's beating up a four year old child. I find it disgusting to sugarcoat it in any other way.

And no need to turn this on me, Jim, and make it personal. I certainly have never claimed to be perfect. I can promise you, though, that I have never beat up my child (or any other child, for that matter), and never well.

Oh, so Adrian himself lied about it? And the kid? And the mom? And the doctor?

Bring it back to reality, Jim. It's a fact and not in dispute.

A switch just "stings"???? There were open wounds that were bleeding! And the child is 4 years old! Hitting a child is just lazy parenting. I spanked my first daughter on the butt twice when she was lttle and have regretted it ever since. Have never laid a hand on the other one. As someone said on ESPN - he got whuppings from his father and all it did was make him do whatever he could to get out of it (lying, etc).

What I was getting at, I've made mistakes in my life so I have no right to judge anyone else's mistakes. Evidently you haven't. Plus God is our final judge,

Disagree entirely. In fact, every society in history disagrees with the premise that actions can't be judged; otherwise, how would order be kept in any society?

We have laws and rules for a reason. Society determines acceptable and unacceptable behavior, and there are criminal and civil consequences if certain laws are broken. That's what is happening here.

As far as god being our final judge -- what does that have to do with anything I've posted? I've said I don't want him as a Viking as a consequence of his actions. Not exactly comparable to god judging whether someone is "good" or "bad." Point to me where I've made a final judgment on AD as a human being, please.

I agree with Trekkie. If he is unrepentant, etc. and isn't going to change, then yes, cut him loose and don't look back. If he is, however, and is going to be a force for good for the cause (which I believe will be the case) then I'll be proud to have him in purple again eventually.

Peterson also allegedly said via text message to the child’s mother that he “felt bad after the fact when I notice the switch was wrapping around hitting I (sic) thigh” and also acknowledged the injury to the child’s scrotum in a text message, saying, “Got him in nuts once I noticed. But I felt so bad, n I’m all tearing that butt up when needed! I start putting them in timeout. N save the whooping for needed memories!”

The people that talk about intent being important...

There's the remorse, sure...but there's a tone of enthusiasm in there too.

I agree with both of you as well, but I'll admit
had this been Gardy or Mauer.......let's just say I'm willing to give Peterson a partial cultural pass if and when the things Trek mentioned happen.

Feel bad for Zimmer, Barr, and Teddy, for stepping into this mess.
Heres hoping they (at least) are able to tone out the CRAP and just move ahead on being the best damn players and coaches they can be.
Didn't ask for this shit.
I hope they somehow rise above it.

Kind of like fans - - - we never ask for the shit either but whenever a player/coach/owner does something idiotic we suffer for it.

Yup. Hear ya Lynn.
Hang in there.
Seriously (for one of my few times)
Long-time fans deserve much better than they have gotten lately.

Ultimately, we are not the victims. In fact, we might be the cause. Expect better, demand better. Stop giving your money to something you don't believe in. Hell, go to a movie. Or stay home. Just make a decision and ride it out. Really no reason to complain if you are financially supporting the teams that now anger you. The only real power we have, we don't use.

Here's my problem with intent........ I didn't mean to kill the bitch, was just trying to teach her a lesson. Wasn't trying to hurt her, I love her.
I beat in the name of love.

Everybody wants to wait for due process. Pass the buck, lighten your burden, but most of all afraid to make a judgment or decision.
I don't need to hear any more of the "who are you to judge" crowd. We should judge, in fact, it's our obligation as human beings that live in a society. Could you imagine if nobody judged? No societal rules whatsoever.

I screwed a goat and my sister tonight. No witnesses. Don't judge me.
