Agreed. But then I was one of the few people who though the fan getting tazed in Philly was completely appropriate.

Like when the toothless meth heads in Cheecago a couple years ago jumped on the first base coach.
Security should have taken the "what's that? Something going on? Ok, I'll get there when I get there" approach ...
The rest of the players were well on their way to pummeling those idiots.
Rightfully.

That incident is exactly why I thought the tazing was appropriate. You have no idea what one of these idiots is going to do.

Agreed, Sweens. It's honestly amazing to me the lack of security we still have at major sporting events/venues. Minor league ball/college/basketball/baseball/football. It's amazing more incidents haven't happened IMO.

Defense didn't show up for the first drive. This could be a very long day.

Blanton doesn't belong on the field.

That was a BS roughing call. If anything, should've been a penalty on Brees for flipping out after.

Total bullshit call leads directly to a NO TD.

No way they make that call if the QB is Cassell or Bridgewater.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) Rob Bironas, who worked his way through odd jobs and the Arena Football League before becoming one of the NFL's most accurate kickers, died in a car crash. He was 36.

The former Tennessee Titans player died Saturday night when he lost control on a curve in his 2009 GMC Yukon Denali and crashed after 11 p.m. less than a mile from home, Metro Nashville Police said.

In a statement on the department website, police said his SUV was speeding when it went off the road and hit a line of trees before coming to a stop upside down in a culvert.

Bironas was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. Police said there was no evidence of alcohol or drugs at the scene.

So far the big bucks Jared Allen replacement is most noticeable jumping offsides.

I'd still take Griffin over JA at this point as an overall player. Glad Teddy is getting his chance. His franchise now most likely.

So sad on Bironas. A truly great guy who has done a ton of good in the community. Just got married this summer to Terry Bradshaw's daughter. Huge loss to the Nashville community.

If you're talking about Griffen, he has 2 sacks to Allen's 0 so far.

Allen was still solid but overrated the last couple of years. Griffen (my bad) has all-world potential and is way better in run stoppage than Allen ever was plus at least his equal as a pass rusher at this point. And young. Spielman (like has has done repeatedly the last couple of years) made the right call. It's all about Teddy (and now finding a replacement RB). If Teddy works out, this organization is going to be very good very soon. Spielman has amassed a ton of young talent the last few years.

No doubt. Instead of US getting the ball back with good field position, the Saints were given a fresh set of downs and were able to get seven points off of it. We had momentum going our way and very possibly could have gone ahead on our drive. It didn't go unnoticed that he ref didn't pull his yellow flag out of his pocket until Brees whined and asked for it. He was basically a running back with the ball at that point and wasn't going down. Our defense had the right to tackle him and the whistle had not blown yet.

See the Mr. Ed Song of the day for this and other fine moments the refs had this weekend.

I did see your link to the song Ed. The bad reffing has been slowly turning me off to football for about the past 5 years or more. I don't want to give up on the sport I love, but man, it's hard to see teams handed gifts from the refs week after week.

Now, I suppose if it were suddenly my team getting the gifts I might feel a little better about it. Every game will have a mistake here and there because the refs are human, but this has just gone too far and too long where the stack leans all the way the other way.

IMO

The officiating is becoming more like the NBA

Star treatment and preferential treatment.

Exactly. I finally realized that the game can be swayed by the refs right after Moss squirted the ref with the water bottle. If I'm not mistaken, the very next offseason, they put in the "no tolerance policy". You weren't allowed to touch the refs after that.

Well, that year, I was watching a random Cowboy game and Aikman was trying to call a timeout. I guess he didn't fell like it was called quick enough (or something). He basically put his hands right in the refs nose and aggressively signaled a TO. No call. I knew, at that point, there were different rules for different players. The Jordan effect.

The NFL is a 10 billion dollar a year enterprise that uses part time refs. Make them full time.....have them spend the week working out and watching film and reviewing good and bad calls.
Instead of 3 to 4K per game, pay them 100K for a full time job with bonuses for working the playoffs.

It won't even matter, IMO. The whole system is corrupt. Reading the details of what the Ravens owner did and how Goodell played along, it's never going to change. As pathetic as that is to type. Sadly, it's the truth.
