Thanks for playing.

Pujols (1st), Cabrera (2nd), Mauer (6th), Victor Martinez (8th), Votto (7th)?

That's all I got.

All correct. You are missing the 3 toughest ones IMO.

One of them is a stretch being "active." Not sure on his retirement status?...he may have hung them up.

One of the other guys is ancient, but plays a little bit.

The other guy has just very recently started his decline.

In MLB history what player has the most MVP vote shares without ever actually winning an MVP award?

Nobody wants to take a shot at this one? I found it very interesting.

Ichiro and Gonzalez. Yes.

The other one is Ryan Howard, but he might be retired.

Ichiro isn't really ancient. He's more ageless.

Active??

All-time.

Not active.

This guy was most active in the 1980s.

Look at it this way - he accumulated the most MVP "point" votes in his career without ever finishing first in the voting. Not necessarily the MOST votes. But the most HIGH votes.

I think he means all time. My guess is Eddie Murray. Should have won it over Ripken.

The fact that he never won makes a rather compelling case for the roll race has traditionally played in MVP voting.

He had two 2nd place finishes, and several other Top 5 finishes, along with a few more Top 10.

Let's try the same question, except this time with the Cy Young Award. Who has accumulated the most Cy Young vote "points" without ever finishing 1st in the voting?

Big hint: It happens to be an active pitcher.

Note: I fixed an earlier typo

That Kaline never won really boggles my mind.....probably as much as anyone on the list.

Ryan Howard signed a minor league contract with the Rockies on Aug. 12 so he is still active. Whether or not he is alive is questionable. But active, yes.
