Good thing we ditched him for the likes of Correia and Mike Pelfrey. Not that I thought he would be good again either, but this is yet another serious indictment of our horrible development AND medical staffs.

Vance Worley improved to 2-0, allowing one run over seven innings as the Pirates defeated the Mets 5-2 on Thursday.
That's three out of three quality starts for Worley since he made his 2014 debut on June 15. On Thursday, the right-hander allowed seven hits, walked two, and struck out three. He made one mistake, allowing a solo home run to Lucas Duda in the fourth inning. Now with a 1.74 ERA, a 0.97 WHIP, and a 12/3 K/BB ratio, Worley will look to keep it going against the Diamondbacks at home in his next start.

It helps to be back in the NL Vanimal, helps to face the Mets.

But

The Twins effed that all up. They're so good at helping struggling guys, you know.

I think it helps more than anything to be away from Anderson and the puffy red faced blow hard.

Maybe Gardy was right all along when he questioned the overall talent level in AAA?

Jason Marquis will start for Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Friday vs. Rochester

Jason Pridie will not exercise the opt-out clause in his minor league contract with the Rockies. Pridie will have another chance to opt-out on August 15. The 30-year-old is batting .288/.352/.454 with eight home runs, 32 RBI, and 20 stolen bases over 61 games this season with Colorado's Triple-A affiliate.

Saw him earlier this year at CO Springs. He's too advanced for that league. Probably should be a 4th OF'er somewhere.

JJ Hardy drives in the winning run for the Os today, in the 12th inning.
Happy to see the O's are relevant again this year.
That East battle will be fun to watch. Go JJ!

Ouch. Worley says Twins "never noticed" his mechanical flaws he gained while coming back from injury.

Gardy's BFF, RA with another fail.

He'll have to make up for it by getting Nolasco back to being himself.

Rick Anderson is overrated.

Sucks at his job.

Has no clue on how to coach up pitchers.

"When I went over to the Twins, that was something they never noticed," Worley said. "I was flying open, and then you can see everything out of my hand. I changed the mechanics; the next thing I know, I'm in Triple A."

As if more evidence needs to be submitted.

How do Ron Gardenhire and Rick Anderson still have a jobs?
If either had one ounce of integrity in them they would hold a dual press conference today and announce their resignation. Effective IMMEDIATELY.

This has gone on long enough

Agreed.

More and more former Twin "failures" go to other teams and become serviceable, or even all stars.

Why in the holy halleluia can't our front office see this?

So no trade before the deadline for Morney.

The Phillies announced that they have designated right-hander Jeff Manship for assignment. The DFA comes as a series of roster moves that will see Carlos Ruiz reinstated from the disabled list, Phillippe Aumont recalled from Triple-A Lehigh Valley and catcher Cameron Rupp optioned to Triple-A.

Manship, 29, posted a 6.65 ERA with 6.3 K/9, 5.5 BB/9 and a 43.1 percent ground-ball rate in 23 innings for the Phillies this season. The former Twins and Rockies hurler has struggled throughout his big league career but owns a much more palatable 4.22 ERA with 6.5 K/9 and 2.8 BB/9 in 358 innings at the Triple-A level.

Kendrys Morales now 1-10 in Seattle.

Kudos to TRyan on this one. Trading him AND getting a player AND getting Seattle to pay his salary!

I've always liked Kendrys, but I never thought it was any kind of perfect fit to begin with at the time of the trade. Willingham/Arcia both are really DH's ideally anyway. And all it really did was cost Pinto ab's and development time.

Two ex-Twins in one deal!

Royals Acquire Liam Hendriks, Erik Kratz

By Steve Adams [July 28, 2014 at 6:10pm CDT]

6:10pm: The Blue Jays announced that they have acquired Danny Valencia from the Royals in exchange for Hendricks and Kratz. Valencia, 29, posted a .282/.328/.382 slash line in 119 plate appearances for KC this season. The veteran split 117 games between Baltimore and Triple-A Norfolk in 2013. In 170 plate appearances last year for the O’s, he had a .304/.330/.553 slash line to go with eight homers. The 29-year-old has seen scattered MLB action since a mediocre stint as the Twins’ everyday third bagger in 2011.

5:51pm: Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports confirms that Kratz is headed to Kansas City (Twitter link).

5:46pm: The Royals and Blue Jays have agreed to a trade, tweets Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports. Right-hander Liam Hendriks is heading to Kansas City in the deal, and Sportsnet’s Shi Davidi tweets that catcher Erik Kratz is expected to be joining the Royals as well.

The 25-year-old Hendriks was once considered one of the Top 10 prospects in the Twins organization, but he made his rounds on waivers over the past season after failing to translate his excellent Triple-A numbers to the Major Leagues. Hendriks allowed nine runs in 13 1/3 innings for the Jays this season and has a 6.06 ERA in 169 1/3 innings throughout his big league career. The Aussie right-hander has a strong 3.23 ERA with 6.6 K/9 and 1.3 BB/9 in 362 1/3 career innings at the Triple-A level. Baseball America tweets that he was impressive at the Triple-A All Star Game this season — a team that he was named to after posting a brilliant 2.33 ERA in 18 minor league appearances this year.
