This is Matt Peterson. Originally from Lanesboro, Minnesota-the best place on earth to spend a relaxing weekend.

Home of the Burros, still battling to remain by themselves in all HS sports.
Bike traffic in the summer there gets crazy.

I visit my parents every summer. The Navy brought me to Jacksonville, FL 14 years ago and I don't mind shoveling sunshine.

Disappointing start from Rodriguez. I'm still hoping he can become something maybe.

Suspended game for Chattanooga due to rain. Game will resume later today and I plan to return. I'm not a scout, however:

*Pre-game warmups included tossing footballs around and players running fly patterns. Maybe trying to break up the monotonous routine and keeping players loose.
*Vargas looked lethargic, before and during the game. I would never say it to his face, but I would expect more professionalism.
*Adam Walker has the stats, but Max Kepler certainly looks the part. Very business like approach to working on his game.
*Ran into a fan from Ham Lake, MN and he brought his son, Harmon.

Hopefully they can play a full game today. More rain is in the forecast.

Really encouraging on Kepler. Still a .944 OPS. Impressive as hell.

And Goodrum (still playing CF; uggh) is actually holding his own. Even if he just becomes something as an OF, that's still another trade chip to use in deals.

Vargas 2 for 4 with a double.

This is known as a hot streak

In Oswaldo Arcia's last 9 games, he is hitting .405/.436/.865 (1.301) with two doubles and five homers.

Big decisions looming for TR. In the short-term, probably easy enough. Cut Robinson, and plug/play Arcia and mix/match for Molitor in the OF/DH/1b/3b. Hicks in CF and Rosario in a pinch. When Buxton's back? And maybe Vargas? Very interesting decisions ahead.

I really don't think you can have Sano and Vargas up at the same time.

If Sano keeps playing this way, we wont see Vargas up again until September.

Very possible. Vargas may be an offseason trade candidate if not this year at the deadline.

Maybe he got rid of that hitch in his swing.

I think Vargas probably gets you some of the least value (because he really is just a DH) but he also, for that reason, is probably the one that needs to go first out of him/Arcia/Hicks/Kepler/Walker.

I love the kid and wish him well (not TOO well somewhere else haha) but the writing's on the wall for him I think. Probably has to be a deal to an AL club.

I would part with Arcia before Vargas. They have the same defensive skill set and at least Vargas plays a position that is more forgiving of the defensively challenged. Arcia in reality is as much a DH as Vargas.

Max Kepler tweaked his shoulder today, I hear. Initial thought is day-to-day. So minor. Did exit Chattanooga's game early. #mntwins

Maybe. But Vargas really isn't even a 1b. Maybe for a year or two, like Ortiz. But that's it. He's really bad even at 1b.

Arcia also has a much better minor league track record than Vargas, has had more major league success, and is younger by a year. Ultimately I guess you trade the guy with the higher trade value first. Both will ultimately probably need to go.

I wish I trusted Ryan to make the right decisions. I'm mortified he'll go trade Arcia and he'll go somewhere else and go David Ortiz on the bit.

They are both dropping farther down the list of prospects as time goes on. I think Vargas is at least serviceable as a backup 1B. Arcia is just flat out a a train wreck in the OF. The age difference is insignificant. There is like 9 months between them.

Arcia's star potential is through the roof. The lightbulb just needs to come on in his head, and I think it may have. He's my DH in 2016. A lineup with Arcia and Sano could be wicked.

I was a big Arcia fan when he first came up, but it looks to me like he has regressed. He is stubborn and doesn't listen to coaches. I have seen a lot of million dollar talents done in by 10 cent heads.
