What's the deal on Max Kepler? German guy right? Is he going to be a major leaguer?

Kepler definitely projects as a major leaguer at this point. It was a little questionable for a while, but he is having a break out year in AA and was selected for the Futures Game only to have to pull out with a shoulder injury. I think he had a longer learning curve because he didn't grow up in a country with advanced baseball competition like the U.S. and the Dominican Republic. He has also been younger than average at each level.

Thanks. I remember first reading about him and it was an interesting story.

Looked like an interesting inning for Berrios.
Had some control issues supposedly, seemed pretty amped.
Definitely some raw talent in that arm.

5 walks in a week for him is about 1/2 a season with the Twins.

Maybe Danny Santana needs a little more time there?

Santana never has walked much at any level, which in part, is why he can struggle so.

This past weekend was encouraging. Will be interesting to see if it continues.

We also gotta remember minor league pitchers know when they're facing guys who have been in the show.

Sanny looked a hundred times more comfy this weekend.
Like that he and Dozier seem to be getting closer.
Don't kid yourself, you gotta know Molly and BD have talked about that ....

John Sickels' top 10 rookies this year based on longterm value. I quibble a bit, but still:

1) Carlos Correa, SS, Astros
2) Kris Bryant, OF, Cubs
3) Joc Pederson, OF, Dodgers
4) Addison Russell, 2B, Cubs
5) Byron Buxton, OF, Twins
6) Miguel Sano, 3B, Twins
7) Carlos Rodon, LHP, White Sox
8) Noah Syndergaard, RHP, Mets
9) Lance McCullers, RHP, Astros
10) Maikel Franco, 3B, Phillies

And his mid-season top 75 minor leaguers, with guys like Buxton/Sano graduating already, or expected to:

http://www.minorleagueball.com/2015/7/12/8940113/top-75-mlb-prospects-mid-season-update

A couple of notes:

It really is scary what the Dodgers are building.
The Nationals staff; insane.
Wish we could trade the Cubs for a SS. They have tons. But we don't really have anything they need IMO.
I do still wonder if a Braves trade could make sense for a SS.

Twins on the list:
17) Jose Berrios, RHP, Twins (44): A favorite since he was in high school in Puerto Rico.
75) Alex Meyer, RHP, Twins (47): Less exciting as a relief prospect.

I really feel like they've messed with his confidence, twice. Last year he should have been up. And this year they should have stuck with him in relief in the majors longer than 2 outings.

At the end of the day that's on him, too. But I haven't really been a big fan of how they've handled him either.

Really good piece on Gordon (which is sure to anger some re: Buxton/Trout. )

Anger? No, Dustin.

I just think it's an absurd comparison. Right now Buxton is BJ Upton to me.
The kid needs to prove himself.

You seem so confident with about how things are going to happen. Look at that bet we made.
I needed to come down a lot for you to even make it interesting.

1) You make WAY too big of a deal out of betting. Bets are bets. They're fun. You win some, you lose some. I win a lot more than I lose. But it's not a big deal.
2) It's a comparison virtually EVERYONE makes. Including the vast majority of scouts that know a lot more than you or I. ie virtually everyone is higher on Buxton than you apparently.
