TYLER JAY
The sixth overall pick last June out of Illinois has taken well to the transition to starting. On Wednesday, Jay pitched seven shutout innings, allowing just three hits, as high Class A Fort Myers beat Brandenton (Pirates) 5-2. Jay hasn’t allowed a run in his past 13 2/3 innings, lowering his ERA to 3.02. He’s struck out 30 and walked 10. Jay’s fastball sits 92-94 and has touched 98 but his best pitch is a hard, wipeout slider. One evaluator likened him to Cliff Lee for stuff, work ethic and mound demeanor.

Has really only had one clunker.

Rosario is a good LHP they put on the 40-man. Max Murphy needs to hit like this, been up/down past year in A ball.
