Agree, although that's a pretty good jump.

They could send him to Eliz and the college SS, Gore, to CR

But splitting time w/Javier seems counter productive

Given what he's doing in the GCL, Lewis is ready for more.

Agree. Good logjam of talent problems to have now. I think we have more high-end MI prospects in the organization right NOW than we had for 30+ years combined.

Maybe EVER, overall

Add in the international signing kid, and you have a lot of SS talent.

Yep. Hopefully we'll be able to turn some of it into more pitching depth in a couple years.

At Eliz, some 20 games in E-Twins have 4 guys in double figures for RBI's

Rooker 12, Miranda/Robinson 11/Cabbage(now at CR) 10

36 doubles(3 with 4) 6 triples 24 HRs

Again....several college guys there, that probably should not be. Same at GCL.

How long until Rooker is moved up. He is making a mockery of that league.

The plan was to have Rooker in Eliz a week or so. Something altered it.

It's looking more and more like Gordon will be playing somewhere other than SS in the majors.

I don't agree, Sweens. All the scouting reports (NOT from the Twins) are that he's more than solid there and should stick. He's still very young.

I've probably only seen him a half-dozen times or so, but I think he's a lot better defensive SS than Polanco, for instance. I don't see any issues there longterm. Has all the tools. Others have said it; he doesn't do any one thing exceptionally well, but he does everything above average. Going to be a good pro for a long time IMO.

Berardino wrote an article from a veteran non Twins scouts that says the opposite.

A veteran scout who passed through Double-A Chattanooga earlier this season came away convinced Gordon would have to move off the position. Maybe he could end up at second or third base or even try center field, the scout surmised, but there was no way Gordon would be able to handle the varied demands of shortstop in the major leagues.

“You know how the best fielders always seem to get the good hop?” the scout asked. “Watching Gordon, he never seemed to get the good hop. For him, it was always the in-between hop. That’s instincts. That’s footwork. That’s hands.”

The scout shook his head.

“For me, those things just aren’t there when I watch Nick Gordon,” the scout said.

He then compared Gordon to Vielma ...

“When I see Vielma, I see a young Omar Vizquel,” the scout said. “He might not hit much early in his career until he puts on some muscle, but this kid can do incredible things with the glove. It was almost sad watching Gordon try to keep up with him when they were taking grounders together.”

The Twins response is basically that Gordon is not the ideal defensive shortstop, but he is good enough. Defensively he sounds like a slight uptick from Polanco. He may come up at SS, but I doubt he stays there long.

Vielma is hitting .230 at AAA. Doesn't bode well to big-league hitting.

Let Gordon work on it. Seems like there are multiple others that will be moving up the ranks too.

Any idea WHAT altered it? Sure isn't problems with his hitting. I wouldn't be surprised if he could hit major league pitchers right now.

Again, I just disagree. Comparing him to Vielma is unfair, as Vielma is incredibly good defensively. But Gordon is just fine. You know I've always been a big Polanco fan as a player, but watching Polanco come up and Gordon come up is night and day defensively to me.

I think Gordon will stick at SS for us for at least 4-5 years (unless we trade him). By then probably one of the other lower-minors kids with a higher ceiling than him will take over.
