I think Naz's defensive deficiencies are a bit overstated. Personally, I think he has improved. He's better on ball than at team defense to be sure. Being a tweener hurts him. He gets overpowered by the heftier bigs, and can get left flat footed by speedier wings. You can say that about a lot of people. Is Naz a key defender? Not even close, but I think he is adequate and better than players like Randle.

Just my take, FWIW.

Randle is actually really good against bigger guys. He was shockingly great against LeBron, Luka and Draymond. But he gets killed by fast, long players.

Most of Naz's problems are awareness and he has heavy feet on defense.

He's been a net negative in the Playoffs the past 2 years. That needs to change.
